December 2, 2018
A Message from the Director
Parents and students,
This week some of our students will be STAAR testing Monday - Thursday, while others will begin college finals. Our last day of 2018 is an early release on December 18 at 12:40pm. Students will return on January 8.
On January 10 and 11 CA students will trade in their GCISD laptop for a new one. Students must turn in their Dell charger with their device. A lost or damaged laptop will be $200 and a lost charger will be $45.
Tomorrow morning our students that are currently catching the bus at the Mustang Drive Community Center, will temporarily be picked up and dropped off at 121 Community Church at 2701 Ira E Woods Ave. This is only until the Mustang-Panther Stadium is complete! I will be there in the morning to make sure we have a smooth transition.
PhoenixON!

Spring 2019 Schedules:
This is just a reminder that you may NOT change your submitted TCC schedule (including classes, periods, or sections) without first talking with Mrs. Miller. Should you make an unauthorized change, you will be required to drop the TCC class.
Study Hall & Independent Study:
Juniors, please make a note of our new policy regarding Study Hall and Independent Study so that we are able to best support your educational needs: Juniors who (1) are not TSI complete in all areas – Reading, Writing, and Math; and/or (2) have failed a course the previous semester will not be permitted to have Independent Study.
Grapevine Rotary Club Scholarship Opportunity!
Please see the attached application for additional information.
FAFSA & Final Aid Information:
Students, BEFORE you can apply for Federal Student Aid, the student AND the parent MUST have a FSA ID. Please request that now as it can take a few weeks to get your FSA ID. From the FAFSA Website (https://fafsa.ed.gov): It is very important that you and your parent create and use your own FSA IDs. The FSA ID acts as a legal signature and should not be shared. Letting someone else create your FSA ID is not allowed and can create problems and delays with your financial aid. For more information or to create your own FSA ID, go to StudentAid.gov/fsaid. If your parent does not have a Social Security Number, he or she will not be able to get an FSA ID through the online process. In that case your parent will print, sign, and mail in a paper signature page.

Here Comes the Bus
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD is happy to announce the adoption of an innovative mobile device app and website entitled, Here Comes the Bus®.
What is Here Comes the Bus:
Here Comes the Bus allows you to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
Here Comes the Bus is free and enables you to:
See the real-time location of your child’s bus both before and after school
Confirm that your child’s bus has arrived at the bus stop, at school or both
Receive a push notification* or email message when the bus is near your stop, has been substituted, or when we have important information to relay
Getting started:
Available in three languages (English, Spanish and French), the Here Comes the Bus app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
Download the Here Comes the Bus app* or visit herecomesthebus.com
Click the Sign Up button
Enter school code 79915 and click “Next” followed by “Confirm”
Complete the User Profile information
Click “Students” and enter your child’s last name and student ID number when prompted
Once you confirm your information, you’re ready to begin using Here Comes the Bus!
To sign up on the website, or to learn more about this service, visit the Here Comes the Bus website.
Your child needs to be a registered bus rider in order to ride a GCISD bus. If you are wanting to register your child to ride the bus, please do so in Skyward. If you are needing to temporarily change your child's bus transportation (i.e. riding home with a friend for a day, etc.), please complete this form. This app tracks only GCISD buses, not individual students.

Student Council’s Holiday Charity Drive
Collegiate Academy has chosen Jonathan's Place (https://www.jpkids.org), a transition home for abused teens as this holiday's charity event. It would be great help if the following items were donated as they were listed "Most Urgent"
- Body Wash (for ages 12+)
- Lysol/Clorox Wipes
- Mouthwash
- Toilet Paper
- Paper Towels
- Ladies Disposable Razors
In addition, to these necessities some holiday wishes that can be donated are board and card games, Legos, books (ages 6+), batteries (all sizes) and bath/body gift sets (boys and girls). If you chose to donate please bring any of those items to the front office by December 14, 2018. Any of these items would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Destination Imagination needs your help!
To be able to finalize our registration for the tournament we need an appraiser and a volunteer for each team.
The most rewarding, is to sign up to be a tournament appraiser!
Appraisers are trained half a day on January 26th, so that the competition is fair. (Plus they feed you!)
Then you actually get to experience the awesome student products at the tournament, February 9th, and of course there is more free food, a t-shirt, and our everlasting gratitude for your time.
We also need one tournament helper per team. Tournament helpers will just work a 2 hour shift that will be scheduled February 9th, 2019.
It is really easy, and they will train you when your arrive.
Thank you for your continued support,
Lynlie Brown
