Remembrance Day
Thanks to the leadership of Mrs. Perkin's Grade 8 class, we had a thoughtful and respectful Remembrance Day ceremony. It was a huge testament to our students as to how quietly and considerately our students honoured those who served, and serve.
Boys' and Girls' Volleyball Tournament
Despite having the Friday night games cancelled because of the snow day on November 16, our Boys' and Girls' teams were able to compete in a tournament at Frontenac SS on Saturday the 17th. The Girls' Volleyball teams are to be congratulated for playing competitively and showing great sportsmanship. The boys played eleven sets of exciting volleyball and came out the gold medal winners! Way to go!
Lego Robotics
Congratulations to our LEGO Robotics Team who placed second in their Robot Game at the first LEGO League tournament the weekend of November 17th. Well done! And thanks to Mr. Large for all his guidance and support for the team.
Grow Project
Wow! Thanks to Mr. Large's successful proposal, his class will be partnering with Loving Spoonful next year to start and maintain a garden programme at Welborne during the 2019-2020 school year. As well as planning and maintaining the garden, students will also be learning about seeds and diversity, CSA's and seedlings, Garlic and the food system and other engaging workshops. Thank you Loving Spoonful for bringing this exciting project to Welborne!
School Climate Survey
Twice a year we survey our Grades 4 - 8 students to find out how they feel about relationships within the school and school climate.
This allows us to hear from our students earlier in the school year, examine the outcomes of the survey and consider implementing changes to support our students. We recently completed our first survey and are looking forward to examining the results. Our second survey will take place later in the year.
Piano Lessons
Private piano lessons are available at the school during the day. If you are interested, please contact Peg Airth at mairth@cogeco.ca
Stationary Bike
We're looking for a stationary bike for student use. If you have one you'd like to donate, please contact the school.
Hotel Dieu Art Gallery
We are very proud of two of our students whose art pieces were chosen to be part of the Winter Hotel Dieu Art Exhibit. Congratulations Gage Mazzuca and Cadence Robinson!
