Lake Country School Board Approves Referendum Resolutions for April 2 Election
District Actions
We're making strategic choices in the district.
The District understands that in order to meet our budgetary needs well into the future, reductions and adjustments to our budget will be necessary. Items such as staffing levels, benefits, and adjusting class size levels, and others potential opportunities are currently being reviewed.
Reduce Operating Costs through Capital Referendum
We're addressing school infrastructure to save money.
Implementing capital improvements such as HVAC replacement, roofing, and entry door efficiencies will help reduce operating costs and allow those savings to be directed back into our budget for student needs well into the future.
Community Investment
The community plays a pivotal role in our comprehensive strategy.
While the District implements cost cutting measures and savings through operational efficiencies, the need for additional operational dollars remains. Based upon our projections, the need for an operational referendum will help the district meet our current and future budgetary needs and allow us to continue our exceptional education and high quality staff.

PROJECT LINUS
Student Council has recently taken on a new community service project called Project Linus. Project Linus is an organization that takes homemade blankets and distributes them to local children in need. We are looking for donations of polar fleece that are 50” x 60” and must be new, smoke and pet free. Joann Fabrics and Hobby Lobby are great locations to get the fleece from. We also accept monetary donations which will be used to buy more materials, as well as fabric scissors. Checks should be addressed to “Lake Country School” with “Project Linus” in the memo. At this time, Student Council members will be the only ones working on the blankets. Contact Mrs. Thurin with any questions at thurinh@mylakecountryschool.org.

Arrowhead Field Hockey - 5K Through GR 8
Arrowhead Lacrosse - GR 7 & GR 8
Due to high interest in this growing sport we have opened a waitlist registration for 2024 7/8th grade boys Arrowhead Youth Lacrosse! We currently have 28 players registered, and due to continued desire to sign-up we created a waitlist for 7/8th grade boys that want to join their friends and play lacrosse this spring. We would love to have as many boys as possible play this sport in high school, so please join this year to learn the game and see what a great sport it is. In addition, the 7/8th grade boys team will be coached by the high school coaches so they will be coached at a high level, have fun and be ready to join the HS program next year.
Waitlist registration will remain open through February 14th. There are no fees to join the waitlist, except for the $35 US Lacrosse sign-up fee (we have no way around that). Use the link below to register your son!
We urge you to register your player as soon as possible if they want to play this spring. If we do not get enough players added to the waitlist we will have to keep the current number of boys and not add a 2nd team. No AYL dues or fees will be charged until a 2nd team is confirmed. Thank you for understanding!

Strategies to Make Homework Go More Smoothly
Homework has been around as long as public schools have, and over the years considerable research has been conducted regarding the efficacy of homework practices. Besides contributing to academic success, homework can help teach children how to take responsibility for tasks and how to work independently. Homework helps children develop habits of mind that will serve them well as they proceed through school and through life. Specifically, homework helps children learn how to plan and organize tasks, manage time, make choices, and problem solve. All of these skills contribute to effective functioning in the adult world of work and families. Homework also helps parents stay involved with their child’s education.
We encourage parents to help and assist their children to follow a nightly homework routine. Below are some recommendations from the National Association of School Psychologists. If you have further questions please reach out to your child’s teacher. CLICK HERE FOR HELPFUL HOMEWORK ROUTINES
If you have further questions, concerns or need to collaborate about your child’s education or social/emotional/behavioral health; please reach out to your Student Support Team.
