HRMS NEWS
February 4, 2021
Dear HRMS Families,
This newsletter has information on Second Quarter Report Cards, Helping Kids Manage Change, the February Middle Years, and the Principal’s Chat from last week and this week.
Second Quarter Report Cards
Our Second Quarter Report Cards will be posted in the next 24 hours. You may note a change in your student’s grades. We have decided to remove the “F” grade and replace it with a “NG” or “No Grade” for all secondary students in Hood River County School District. We believe that failing students in distance learning is not a fair representation of a student’s ability or skill level due to limitations in access and technology support. This will be retroactive to all first quarter grades.
February 2021 Middle Years
This edition of the Middle Years has some great information on the developmental stages of early adolescents and how to encourage your child to add complexity to their thinking (Fair vs. Equal and Rethink Thinking). I also recommend a family conversation and stance on Cyberbullying and what a great reminder to parents that middle schoolers still love to be read to in the evening!
Principal's Chat
Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or words of praise for the people or programs of Hood River Middle School. Thank you and have a great day.
