Chaffee Elementary School
The Week Ahead...April 17, 2017
Our purpose, our work, our focus: our STUDENTS!
Thank you for such a great week of testing! Yes, I said GREAT! We had AMAZING attendance all week and because of our diligent teachers, we have all of our tests made up except for one student! In a school of 417 students, only one student has to make up due to illness! Our TEAM is absolutely amazing! Thank you to Mrs. Craig and all of our teachers that assisted with make-ups! I appreciate your efforts! It also speaks volumes about our parents and community support! I am thrilled to say Chaffee is my school and I'm sure you are also!
We have 6 more weeks of school and we need to make sure we make each and every day count. Our students crave structure and I will ask that we get back to the business of teaching and learning and continue with high expectations for our students. I challenge each of you to consider the "purpose" of each task you give our students. Is the task a "busy" task or a task that challenges our students? Now that SchoolNet is canceled, we will depend on STAR to show our student's growth for the end of the year. I would now focus on individualization, differentiation, and acceleration. Continue to push AR reading, Reflex Math, and writing. For our Instructional Meetings, I will ask you to bring student writing samples. You have so much to be proud of and our student's writing has shown such improvement! There is much to do for the end of the year and I know we will end strong. You are the BEST!
