NP³ Elementary 2021-2022
Matey Message Week 7 September 13-17
Reading is like breathing in, writing is like breathing out.
Dear Matey Families,
We are quickly approaching our first set of student conferences and progress reports. Below is information that will help families prepare for this exciting meeting!
Scheduling Conferences:
Your student's teacher sent out a conference sign-up (using Calendly) last week. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, fall conferences will need to be held virtually. Teachers will send you a Zoom link to access the conference. They may send you your student's Digital Leadership BInder to review (before). If any family needs assistance with translation during the conference, please feel free to let your teacher know or the front office. We will connect you with someone that can help.
What to Expect at the Conference:
Traditionally NP3 Elementary has reserved the first conference to share student preassessment data and to goal set (for the year). Although teachers will continue this practice, they will also share some areas where gaps from our pandemic have affected student learning.
NP3 Elementary has made the transition from hard copy Leadership Binders to Digital Leadership Binders. This shift will allow your students the opportunity to keep their Leadership Binders from kindergarten-twelfth grades. Teachers will walk you through the binder and explain the student goals (selected).
Additionally, teachers will share student progress reports with you. NP3 is a standards-based learning community. All student grades reflect where a student should be at this point in the school year. Teachers will explain this to you. When you receive your progress report, realistically your students should have 2's recorded as their current achievement. Proficiency at the end of the school year will reflect as a 3.
Your teacher will ask you if you have any questions or concerns. Please use this time to ask any of those questions and please share your concerns. We want to work collectively to ensure your students have the best school experience possible.
Some teachers may include the student in this first conference. However, younger students may be asked to participate and lead their next conference.
After the Conference:
Continue to support your students with any at-home learning recommendations from your teachers. Also, make sure to acknowledge your student's hard work and to celebrate their achievements!
Thank you!
Mrs. Dart

Blackbird Park Safety/Student Dress Code:
Reports that families are parking in crosswalks and blocking cars from leaving Blackbird. I am hopeful that a friendly reminder to you is all it will take for this to stop. Please, the safety of the students and our families must come first!
Please remember that students must be in closed-toe shoes at school. For the safety of the students, flip-flops and open-toed sandals may not be worn. ANNNND, please refrain from wearing hats indoors.

Leader in Me: Family Mission Statement

They are the most important organization you are part of. Work with your family to create a family mission statement. This will help you identify what is most important to the members of your family.
