Cozine Climber Updates - December 16

A Note From Cozine:

Hi Climbers!

We wanted to end the 2021 year with a shoutout... a shoutout to YOU! Thank you for being the most supportive and understanding families! We couldn't have asked for anything more! We wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy holiday season.

In Kindness,
Ms. Jodi Notch and Ms. Lisa Dalton

DEADLINE APPROACHING: Our Parent Survey is Open until Friday

The 2021 Clark County School District (CCSD) Districtwide Parent/Guardian Survey is available online until 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at The 5-minute survey, available in English and Spanish, is confidential and part of the District's efforts to engage the community on important issues facing students and their families.

Questions asked in the survey align with District goals, focus areas, and strategic imperatives that will be used to help make improvements to schools and increase parent/guardian engagement.

Parents/guardians must enter their child’s student ID number and birth date or the name of the school when completing the survey at Entering student information ensures that each school is receiving specific responses from parents/guardians to gauge its school climate. Survey results will remain anonymous and are only shared in the aggregate.

The survey is accessible on tablets and smartphones. Every parent/guardian is invited to take a survey for each child enrolled in a CCSD school.

Any questions or concerns can be addressed by calling CCSD's Assessment, Accountability, Research, and School Improvement Division at 702-799-1041, option 4.

Students are required to wear masks to school and we expect this regulation to continue into the 2022 year.

We give out approximately 100 masks every day. Although we don't mind supplying masks for emergencies, we are asking that you send your student with a mask every day and a spare should the first one tear, get dirty, or get lost. This would help us a great deal!

Reminder: Yearbook Sales

Yearbooks are now on sale! Please send your payment to your child's teacher in the envelope that was sent home. You may pick up a new payment envelope in the office if you need a replacement. They are $25 each and you may pay with cash or a check made out to Cozine Elementary. We have a limited number of yearbooks so reserve yours today!

Upcoming Days Off School

During the next couple of weeks, there are several days that school will not be in session. Please make sure you have your calendars marked with the following dates:

Monday, December 20 - Tuesday, January 5 - Winter Break, No School

Kids don't return from Winter Break until WEDNESDAY, January 5. This is different than in previous years, and we want you to be aware so you can plan appropriately.

Reminder: Library Book Fine Reduction Program

Did you know library fines follow students through their senior year and graduation may be affected by outstanding fines?

Is your Climber missing library books from previous school years? We are offering current Cozine students an opportunity to pay a reduced fine for missing books. If you have a Cozine library book fine from a previous school year (before August 2021), you can pay $5 per missing book to clear your library debt. This will also allow your student to check out books again!

Fines will be paid directly to the library and Ms. Snyder will update your Climber's Destiny account.

REMINDER: covid central

Please utilize the Clark County School District’s COVID-19 Parent/Guardian Hotline to report your student’s positive COVID-19 test result or your student’s recent exposure to a COVID-19-positive individual.

The CCSD COVID-19 Parent/Guardian Hotline is available Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and can be reached by calling (702) 799-4322. Free COVID-19 testing options are available at Southern Nevada Health District, and vaccination resources are available at Southern Nevada Health District Vaccines.

REMINDER: Parking Lot

Our main goal is to keep our students safe. Our parking lot is closed in order to provide our students who walk home with an extra layer of protection. Daycare buses, CCSD buses, CCSD staff, and vehicles with handicap placards displayed are the only vehicles that will be permitted to enter the parking lot during arrival and dismissal times.

Additionally, there is one designated entrance and one designated exit for the parking lot to keep the flow of traffic in one direction. If your vehicle is permitted in the lot, you will need to park in a marked spot while waiting for your students.

Finally, please remember to be kind to the teaching staff that is manning the parking lot as they are there to keep your children as safe as possible.

REMINDER: Dismissal Procedures

To help with congestion at the gate, please approach our dismissal gate only when your student's class is arriving on the playground. By waiting for the appropriate time, we can eliminate unnecessary crowding.

Our dismissal times are as follows:

3:05pm- Kindergarten and first grades

3:10pm- Second and third grades

3:15pm- Fourth and fifth grades
