CNLP 158: Kara Powell On How To Tell If Your Church Is Positioned To Draw Millennials And Her Personal Habits And Rhythms As A Leader And Mom
What does your church need to do to connect better with Millennials?
Kara Powell shares insights from research from 250 effective churches on practices that work for any size church in any setting. Plus, she shares how she gets it all done as an academic, mom, church leader, author and speaker.
Making Sense of the Las Vegas Massacre
With confidence King David declared in Psalm 5:11, ”But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them.” And in Psalm 57:1, when he was being hunted by King Saul who wanted him dead, David declared, “In you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.”
A second truth we should remember when events like this occur is that the seeds of this kind of murder are in each of our hearts.

I didn't want to say too much in this introductory newsletter other than "hello." It's been a pretty wild start to this year with Hurricanes, transitions, devastating news events, and personal challenges. However, we've witnessed a great development happening here at CBC Youth. Not only do we have a good amount of qualified, awesome leaders...but as our structures and systems are proving to sustain, many of our youth are growing deeper and deeper.
My hope is that this youth group becomes a resource for you parents. We never want to replace the internal family unit but we desire to come alongside it and resource it to the best of our ability. I know from experience and reality that we are not a perfect youth group. Not even close. I know that we will fail your youth and will fail you parents (hopefully not intentionally). We know that we are sinful beings trying to run a program that is constantly in flux. But we constantly rely on the Gospel to give us our worth and we continue to press in to the Lord. That's our goal and our hope for your youth and this youth group. Blessings
