Happy Sunday Harrington Families

Happy NFL Championship Sunday!! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend so far, and was able to enjoy the relatively mild weather. Seems Winter will be returning in full strength as the week progresses with some single digit numbers by the end of the week. You can expect students to go outside for recess as long as the real feel temperature is 22 degrees. Knowing this, I cannot say enough the importance of the proper cold weather clothing for being outside. We still had students in sweatshirts this past week, I must remind everyone that I will keep students indoors if they are not properly dressed to be in the cold weather, so please ensure that your student(s) comes to school prepared.

Early in the week I send a connectEd home regarding dropping off of students if you drop off daily. Please DO NOT release your student before you are given the okay from the staff Members per in the area. This is a safety precaution with the expectation that we follow the process.

DISMISSAL REMINDER:

Please remember that if you are changing the way in which your student will be dismissed on a particular day please send in a note with your student, or call the main office. Teachers will follow the consistent plans of that day unless there is notification from a parent/guardian to them directly. Students can be confused on dismissal plans which causes extensive confusion and a delay in the dismissal process. Again, please send in a note or call the office if you change the way your student will be getting home on any particular day.

Thank you for your continued support of Harrington. We are an inclusive community, a special community, a community that will continue to support each other.

Please ensure that you are receiving all communications from the school and that your contact information is up to date. If at any time you have changed your contact information, please let the school know so we can update our systems.

As always, thank you for your continued support of our Harrington community. Please reach out to me or Karen with any questions or concerns as always.

Once again, remember to…"Push through your day, Smile, Be Happy, Stay Positive!"

Be safe! Stay well!

HEALTH SCREENINGS January 30th, 31st, and February 1st

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health requires students to be screened at certain intervals. In elementary school, your child will be screened for:

  • Hearing: Grades *K, 1, 2, 3
  • Vision with stereopsis testing: Grades *K, 1, 2, 3
  • Visual acuity: Grade 4
  • Height/Weight: Grades 1, 4

*Kindergarten: Upon entering kindergarten, the parent/guardian is required to submit a recent physical with a completed vision and hearing screening. If we have documentation from within the previous 12 months that your child has passed a vision and hearing screening, an additional screening is not necessary. If your kindergarten child is missing a hearing or vision screening, it will be done at school.

Please make sure your student brings or wears their prescribed eyeglasses at school for their vision screening.

If you choose to have your child opt out of any of these screenings, you may send a written request to exclude him/her from participating to assinis@chelmsford.k12.ma.us, or you may call the health office.

Thank you and stay well!
