SEPTEMBER 2020 NEWS FROM DR. CHEKAN

Important Information & Good News From Propel Schools

A Note From The CEO/Superintendent

Propel Families,

Our Remote Learning protocol has received so many compliments from families! Scholar engagement is high and our creative educators are pulling out all the stops to assure that scholars are learning and growing!

The next phase outlined in our Health and Safty plan will begin on Monday, October 5. We are excited to safely reopen our buildings to scholars whose families have selected the Hybrid A/B Week Schedule protocol. Our Remote Learning protocol will, of course, continue for families who have elected to stay in the 100% remote learning protocol. More information about our October 5 transition can be found later in this update.

This year more than ever, we will be sharing information with our families via email through the Connect 5 platform. Email addresses for Connect 5 are updated each day through our Skyward system. If any of your pertinent information has changed (email address, physical address or telephone number) it is vital that you share that information with us so that we can keep our systems updated and you can stay connected to the latest important updates.

As always, thank you for your support! We are #PropelProud to be your partner in education!

Dr. Tina Chekan

CEO/Superintendent

UPDATE: SCHOLAR SAFE AND HEALTHY RETURN TO BUILDINGS -- MONDAY, OCTOBER 5

Our Health and Safety plan for reopening our school buildings on October 5 is posted on our website and can be found HERE. Our plan focuses on the health, safety and well-being of our scholars, educators and staff.

Our school buildings have been well-prepared for a safe and healthy reopening.

  • Touchless thermal cameras have been installed to scan temperatures upon scholar arrival
  • Colorful inside signage (reminding scholars about hand and cough hygiene) and outdoor signage (reminding scholars about social distancing) has been professionally installed
  • Desks and tables (at the elementary level) now have clear barriers. so that scholars will be able to always see their educators (who will have clear barriers on their portable podiums)
  • Water fountains will be disabled and covered. Bottled water and sanitary water bottle fill stations will be available
  • Breakfast and lunches will be delivered to scholar classrooms

If your scholar will be returning to a building as a part of the Hybrid A/B Week Learning Protocol, you can find their A/B grouping designation on Skyward. Scroll down in this newsletter to learn more about using Skyward! Be on the lookout for your scholar's individual schedule, which will be shared from your school building's leadership team!

October 5 and October 13 will look slightly different for scholars who are in the 100% Remote Learning Protocol, due to these days being the first in-person Hybrid A/B Week days. 100% Remote Scholars should check-in at CREW as normal and will receive further instructions from there.

Transportation information will come to you from your sending school district, who is also your contact for any transportation changes or questions you may have. Please note that during this challenging time, it may take a few weeks for bus companies to achieve consistency in transportation, as more bus routes have been added to accommodate safe scholar spacing during bus rides.

If you have questions about return to school or health and safety items, please reach out to your school's principal team.

USING SKYWARD -- A FAMILY GUIDE FOR SUCCESS!

Skyward is Propel's student information system (SIS.) We use Skyward each day to track scholar attendance and update scholar records. The system has a 'family-facing' side as well. We are using the family side of the system to also allow for valuable family input. Recently, we have asked families to log in to Skyward to view scholar report cards, to make important choices about their scholar's learning protocol choice and to complete an annual survey. It is important for all families to have the ability to access Skyward!

To log in to Skyward, you will need to have your password handy. If you do not have your Skyward password, it can be reset by your school's administrative assistant with just one click. Please reach out to your school today, if you need a password reset.

To log into Skyward:

1. Use this LINK to access Skyward. A one-click link can also be found on our website homepage, at the very bottom of the page.

2. Using your email address and password, log in to the system.

3. You will then see the home screen for your scholar.

Right now on Skyward, you can view your scholar's chosen learning protocol and their A/B group determination (if you've chosen the Hybrid A/B Week Learning Protocol) by following THESE DIRECTIONS!

Thank you in advance for using Skyward!
