OHSAA STATE SEMIFINALS

The Oak Harbor Rocket Football Team will play Kirkland Hornets at Strongsville HS on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:00 PM.


Online Presale tickets for the Rockets vs Kirtland are currently on sale at http://ohsaa.org/tickets


Presale will be $8.00. The gate price is $10. The school gets a portion of all Presale tickets sold.

Sunday Fun Open Swims at Oak Harbor High School

Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools is pleased to announce new times for Sunday Fun Open Swims at the Oak Harbor High School Pool for all B-C-S students, families, and community members starting on January 12, 2020. Racquet ball courts will also be open to adults during these times. The pool and racquet ball courts will be open on the following Sundays from 2:00 until 4:00 PM: January 12, 19, 26; February 2, 9, 16, 23; March 1, March 8, March 15.


Pool admission cost to be paid at the door for B-C-S students is only $1, and B-C-S adults will be $2. Racque tball courts will be open to B-C-S adults only for an additional charge of $2 (limit 4 per court). A lifeguard and site director will be on site to ensure safety. Please note that these Sunday Fun times will be cancelled if Ottawa County is on a Level Two or Level Three Snow Emergency as announced by the Ottawa County Sheriff.

Restoration of School Busing Service

Dear B-C-S Parents/Guardians:


Due to passage of the levy, busing is being brought back similar to what it was last school year. We will start transporting students in high school (including Penta) and students who live within 2 miles of our schools on January 6, 2020.

On Saturday December 7, 2019 at 4:15pm Santa’s friends from the Portage District Fire Department will be guiding him through the streets of the village as he announces his arrival and opens the 2019 Holiday Season.


At 5:00pm Santa will arrive at the Log Cabin to light the Village Christmas Tree and to visit with the children.


Each child will have the opportunity to share their Christmas wish list with Santa at the Log Cabin. After their visit with Santa the children will then receive Santa Bucks and be able to shop for two (2) free gift items for their loved ones from several businesses in downtown. There will be several businesses open that night and parents will receive an entry card, if you and your children visit each of the participating stores and have your card stamped, you can then enter your card into a drawing for $100 in gift certificates! After the children have purchased their gifts they may proceed to Portage Fire Station for Cookies and Cocoa and parents can turn in their entries for the drawing. These activities will be available from 5pm-7pm.


Santa will also be at the Log Cabin from 6pm-8pm on Dec 13th & 20th.

OAK HARBOR AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ‘PARADE OF TREES’


A time honored Holiday tradition, Christmas Trees on Parade will light up the town again this year. Friends, family, businesses and organizations are invited to sponsor a tree as a memorial, an honorary gift or a seasonal greeting. A sign will be placed at each tree displaying the special message and the sponsor. All proceeds help to fund the Olde Fashioned Christmas Celebration.


They will be displayed on the light posts in the Oak Harbor village from December 1st to January 1st.

Cost to sponsor a tree is $35. Forms are currently available online at www.oakharborohio.net, or at the Chamber office, 161 W. Water St, Oak Harbor. Deadline is November 25, 2019.

OAK HARBOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OFFERING GIFT WRAPPING SERVICES


The Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce will be offering gift wrapping services for the Holiday Season. All proceeds will benefit the Olde Fashioned Christmas Celebration in downtown Oak Harbor, and prices will range from $1 - $5 depending on the size of the gift. Customers can drop their gifts off Monday – Friday between 8am-4pm. They will begin accepting gifts to wrap on Monday November 25, 2019 and will wrap through December 19, 2019. A HOLIDAY CELEBRATION FEATURING THE 8TH GRADE BAND AND THE HIGH SCHOOL BANDS WILL BE ON SUNDAY DECEMBER 8TH AT 3 PM IN THE HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM


THE MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND CONCERT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 16TH. THE CONCERT BEGINS AT 6:30 PM IN THE HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. 6TH AND 7TH GRADE BAND STUDENTS WILL NEED TO REPORT TO THE HIGH SCHOOL BAND ROOM BY 6 PM.


ATTN: PARENTS—ARE YOUR CHILDREN MISSING THEIR GLASSES? WE STILL HAVE 2 PAIRS HERE IN THE OFFICE AND A GLASSES CASE. THERE IS ALSO A LANYARD WITH AN OAK HARBOR PUBLIC LIBRARY TAG ON IT. ALSO, THERE ARE A COUPLE OF PENCIL BAGS HERE AS WELL. IN ADDITION, OUR LOST AND FOUND HOOKS IN THE CAFETERIA ARE QUICKLY FILLING UP WITH JACKETS, SWEATERS, ETC. PLEASE ASK YOUR CHILDREN TO CHECK THAT AS WELL. THANK YOU!


BE SURE TO SUBMIT OR TURN IN ANY TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS ON THE FORM THAT WAS SENT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD. BUSSING FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE LESS THAN 2 MILES IN GRADES K-12 CAN BE BUSSED UPON RETURN TO SCHOOL FROM CHRISTMAS BREAK. THERE IS AN ON-LINE FORM THAT CAN BE E-MAILED DIRECTLY TO THE TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR. IT IS ON THE BCS WEBSITE, TOO.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have been busy planning for our Thanksgiving feast. We also read a book called Night Tree by Eve Bunting, and we made a special treat for the animals who live in trees.


We learned about the Pilgrims and Indians and shared our favorite Thanksgiving foods, as well as all of the things we are thankful for.
