The Ritenour Review
2017 - 2018 Fourth Grade Weekly News
Brr! It's Getting Cold!
Man, oh, man, it is cold! Where did our abnormally warm weather go?! With the change of the weather, please continue to remind your child to dress for the weather. We go outside as long as it is above 10 degrees and not raining. We LOVE to get those kiddos to run out some of that energy.
I feel like every week brings new and exciting things. This last one was no different. From hands-on math to outdoor science lessons, we are busy, busy, busy!
In math, we hit our geometry section of our second unit. The kids are having a blast! We pulled our the geo boards and rubber bands, and we are exploring with the different properties of quadrilaterals and triangles. We are working on being the best mathematicians we can. Using proper terminology is helping us explain our theories and allow others to join in our knowledge.
In writing, we are still typing our final drafts. This is the longest part of the writing process. Over half of the class is finished and they are working on new stories and the other half is finalizing their typing. Once they type their story, they share it with me and I can leave comments for them to continue editing when they sign back in again. This has been a fun process for them to explore.
In reading, we finished our character study unit. The class has come a long way with their analyzing skills!
Coming up next!
- Math: We will finalize unit two and assess later this week.
- Reading: We will be making goals for our non-fiction unit on Monday and Tuesday. Then we will move into our informational unit.
- Science: We are working with electromagnetics!
- Writing: We are finishing up our Energy Unit! We will create PowerPoints to review our concepts in energy and we will test on Thursday.
Light Energy Fun!
