This quote from the Meaning of the Hawk story at our Warhawk Ceremony is one that keeps jumping out to me. My heart tells me that this place is going to be magical. My heart tells me that our scholars are going to excel. My heart tells me we have the greatest school in the universe.
We have a great task ahead of us, but I know that together, we can "see beyond [our] already keen eyesight, to the worlds beyond this world."
Go Warhawks! And, remember, you belong here.

Week in Review
Emergency Folders & Procedures
Each of you now has a red emergency folder in your box. Please follow the instructions in the images below to have the appropriate signage available for the first day. If we do have an emergency situation on the first day of school, please follow the instructions in the SRP Overview document. For an evacuation, you will use the red/green cards to report that all your scholars are accounted for (show green) or you are missing someone (show red). We will get these mounted on dowel rods by next week.
- Fire Map: tape on the back side of the paper near your classroom emergency button
- Response Protocols: tape on the back side of the paper near your classroom emergency button
- SRP Overview: keep in your red emergency folder
- Red/Green Cards: keep in your red emergency folder (for now)
- Class Rosters: print them off and keep in your red emergency folder
Please stress to your classes the importance of wearing IDs, not opening doors for strangers, and reporting things that are amiss. Also, do not leave exterior doors unlocked or propped open at any time.

- have patience as we work through the first few days
First Day Procedures: STAFF
Be sure to read through the Expectations tab of the DUTY SCHEDULE to be familiar with what to do at your duty spot before or after school.
First Day Procedures: SCHOLARS
We will go easy on tardies for the first week of school as scholars learn their way around the building.
Staffulty Dress for First Day
While this is a small thing, it sets a huge first impression for our scholars and families.
Your new WMS IDs are in your boxes. The expectation is that you are wearing your ID at all times (we expect this of our scholars, therefore, we must set the example). Staffulty do not have to wear it on the provided WMS lanyard, however, scholars do.
BACKCHANNEL: First Day Staffulty Meeting
As you come across questions or issues with procedures throughout the first day, please add them to the WMS: Staffulty course discussion post so we can provide you with answers at the staffulty meeting. Add a possible solution (or two!) to any challenges you experience.
If you have any building/construction issues, please continue adding those to the Hiccup List.
Scholar Schedule Changes
Mr. Miles and Mrs. Todaro have processed multiple requests already, so we ask that you help them by filtering scholars through the following process.
If they do have a concern about their schedule, please keep the scholar in your class and email Mr. Miles with specific information about their request. We want kids to be in a class on Monday. Mr. Miles will call down each scholar as he is able to complete each request - assure our scholars we will take care of them and ask for their patience as there are nearly 650 scholars and only one Mr. Miles (and, we are still enrolling new scholars).

Meetings will begin at 4:15 PM and shall not last longer than 5:00 PM. As always, ending early gives the gift of time. And, meetings are for items that need to be addressed face-to-face.
Duty Stations & Personnel
Starting Tuesday and lasting through Friday, we will have ALL morning duty personnel only for arrival and ALL afternoon duty personnel only for dismissal.
