Tiger Family Newsletter
The Week of April 30- May 4
Hello Tiger Families!
As we head into our last month of school, our days will be packed with different celebrations and activities that we would love you to be a part of! This week, our Ballet Folklorico Club is making its debut immediately following PTA’s General Meeting Thursday at 5:30. This club revives a great Timberline tradition and I’m so excited for you to see the amazing performances our Tigers have in store for you!
I also encourage you to join us at 8:30 Tuesday morning in the Learning Commons for our May Project Bridge Parent Meeting. This is your chance to get to know other parents, enjoy snacks and a craft. You can ask me questions about what’s happening in our school, make suggestions, and learn about ways to help your child be even more successful in school. Everyone that attends this week will be entered in a drawing for gift card giveaways!
I hope you’re enjoying this long weekend with your families!
Proud to be your principal~
Ms. Ingram

From the Nurse
Dear Parents,
The health and safety of all students are important to the staff at each of our schools. In an effort to keep our students healthy and in the classroom, I want to share with you a few lifestyle hygiene habits. We cannot keep everyone from getting sick, but with these proactive habits, we sure can try.
1.) Wash your hands! Before you eat, after you eat, after using the restroom, after PE, after being outside, after you sneeze, anytime you can. When in doubt, wash your hands.
2.) If you cough or sneeze, use your sleeve. (The students can demonstrate this for you)
3.) Avoid touching your T-Zone. This is the area on your face that includes your eyes, nose and mouth.
4.) Respect personal space. Keep a little distance between you and others.
5.) Ask your child to visit the nurse only for things that cannot be taken care of in the classroom. Teachers have Band-Aids for little cuts and scrapes.
6.) Wear weather appropriate clothing. If there is snow on the ground, students should wear closed-toed shoes, pants and a jacket.
7.) Get plenty of rest. American Academy of Pediatrics suggests students below 12 years old receive 9-12 hours of sleep, and students over 13 years old receive 8-10 hours of sleep.
While we practice these healthy habits at school, we also ask that you do your part in assessing your student’s health at home. If your student has a fever of more than 100 degrees, or is experiencing vomiting or diarrhea, district policy requires them to stay home. Your student may return to school, when he has been symptom-free, without the use of any medication for more than 24 hours. We are still seeing a few more cases of flu and this is the time of the year when we may see an increase of pertussis or mononucleosis. Please be sure you take your child to see the doctor if notice any symptoms of fever and cough.
In the event that your student is staying home from school, please call the front office and let us know.
When the student returns to school, you may need to present a statement from the doctor confirming the cause for the absence. As always, we are here to answer any healthy hygiene habits questions.
Child Nutrition Week May 7-11
Have you thanked a lunch lady today? Let them know how much they mean to the students and the school day!
To kick off Child Nutrition Appreciation Week, Grapevine-Colleyville schools will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 4. School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to 30 million of America’s students each school day.
Volunteers Wanted
Want to be a part of an amazing community?
We have many opportunities for you to join in on the fun at Timberline. Whether you would like to assist on campus, or pick up and return materials, we have something for you!
Please contact our amazing front office staff at 817-251-5770 for more information.
Also, we are also looking for volunteers to assist with our talented Ballet Folklorico Club!
Can you sew? Do you know this style of dance? Please give us a call.
Ride Change, Doctor's Appointments and Emergency Care for Late Pickups
Ride Changes:
The school will follow the direction you provided about how your child gets home each day. If there is a change to this, you must notify the office in one of the following ways:
Send a written note with your child with details for how he or she will get home that day.
Email maria.reyes@gcisd.net and kimberly.becerra@gcisd.net with details for how you child will be picked up prior to 2:00 p.m.
Call the office 817-251-5770 prior to 2:00 p.m.
Changes cannot be made by text messages or calls to teachers. Teachers are working with your children during the school day and we can’t ensure that information will get to the office.
If your child has a doctor's appointment that requires leaving school early:
- Please notify the office the day before the appointment so the office has time to prepare necessary checkout for you.
- Pick up your child prior to 2:30 for early release. Because of the size of our school, we are not able to process early pickups after this time. This is a shared policy across GCISD elementary campuses.
- Send a doctor's note in with your child the following day so that we are able to excuse the partial absence.
If you have an emergency and are not able to pick up your child(ren) by 3:20:
- Your child(ren) will be taken to KidzU for supervision at which time an emergency care fee is charged.
- KidzU is located at the Timberline Annex, across from the LAC.
- Unless there are unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, our car rider dismissal line is cleared by 3:20.
- If possible, please call the office to alert us of the emergency.
