June 6th 1944
160,000 men were in the attack on Fortress Europa and the Atlantic wall. 5,000 ships and 13,000 Aircraft made the whole battle possible.
The horrors of D-Day
Over 425,000 Allied and German troops were killed on D-Day. This was the largest seaborne invasion in history, and one of the most devastating.
During D-Day the U.S. was attacking the Japanese in Normandy France. The attack was originally supposed to be on June 5th but the night of June 4th the weather was unsuitable for landing, so Eisenhower decided the 6th was the best time to go.
