Language:
Vocabulary: We will continue Wordly Wise Lesson 7 this week. Exercises C & D will be due Thursday. The test will be this Friday, 12/15.
Grammar: We will be learning about pronouns this week.
Math:
We will be wrapping up our work with fractions and decimals this week. Topics will include: expressing centimeters as a decimal, converting centimeters to meters, and converting centimeters to millimeters. Students received their study guides today. Study guides will be due Monday, Dec. 18. The test will be Wednesday, December 20.
Reading:
I have started reading the book, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, aloud to the kids. We will be reviewing fiction reading strategies as we read this book. The movie of this book comes out in theaters November 17.
Science:
We will be doing some extra science again this week! For our forces and motion unit, students will be conducting several tests with their K'nex vehicle. They will be investigating how a propeller can be used to make their vehicle move. We will also discuss budgets and the design process to show how manufacturers want to make the best quality product for the smallest cost possible. We will also be learning about heat transfer, conduction, convection, and radiation. I pushed their quiz back to next week since this can be a tricky concept.
