PROJECT GODWAY UPDATE and Volunteer sign up
Prayers and volunteers are needed! As you may know, Project Godway is a 5-week after-school program led by Grace volunteers (adults and Grace graduates) who provide Bible Study and activities for Middle School girls.
The Project Godway High School Leadership Team has been faithfully gathering twice a month for the past four months to study God's Word, pray, and plan for Project Godway season 11. We have all kinds of great ideas for how we can bless and serve the middle school girls of our community and our surrounding communities this season! Including bringing sewing back! And cooking too! And all we have dealt with over the past few years has helped give us ideas to simplify and streamline aspects of the program to make things easier for our volunteers.
We have an exciting theme and theme verse planned as well....the only thing stopping us from carrying out season 2023 is the lack of a season leader/facilitator. As some of you know, I have been traveling with my husband Todd in our RV for the past year and a half. Last year I was able to come back to lead the season in the spring. This season I will not be able to do that. The Leaders and I are praying that one of the Christian women in our congregation might step up to take my place for our 5 weak season in the spring. (March 3 - March 31st) Most everything is set in place already and I would be happy to help you along the way from afar via Zoom, phone, email, and text. If you feel a tug at your heart and are the slightest bit interested in taking on this integral role please reach out to me and we can set up a time to talk. Cold & Flu Season Information
Cold and flu season is upon us. Health officials are warning there may be high levels of influenza compared to the past two years when COVID-19 precautions helped keep flu infections low. As a reminder, please do not send your child to school if they are feeling sick or experiencing symptoms of a virus. Keeping your sick child home will be a great benefit for the health and wellness of our students and staff. As you know, we here at Grace have a two-day rule that is helping us keep illnesses down and it is working very well. Your commitment to following this rule stops the spread and keeps more children in school.
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk of serious flu complications. Symptoms of influenza can vary, but generally include a high fever, headache, chills, body aches, sore throat, and cough.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers these tips to prevent influenza:
● Get vaccinated every year
● Avoid close contact with sick people
● Frequently wash hands with soap
● Stay at home if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms
● Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
● Individuals with chronic health issues and/or individuals experiencing severe symptoms should be evaluated by a medical professional.
The influenza vaccine is available at doctors’ offices and retail pharmacies and is covered by medical insurance. People with no health care coverage can get vaccinated at one of the County’s six public health centers or a local community clinic. To find the nearest location, visit the County’s Flu Vaccine Locations page or call 2-1-1 San Diego. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated every year.
Grace Christian will continue to work with local health officials to share helpful information.
