A Note from our PFC Co-Presidents
What a year it's been. We have so much to be grateful for while we collectively try and catch our breath as we sail on.
So many thanks to our Auction Committee, headed by Maya Hiersoux! We hope to see you this Saturday, May 1, at 6 p.m., for some distanced entertainment and virtual bidding. You must register (for free) for this event in order to receive your unique link to attend. (This isn’t a Zoom meeting!)
On Thursday, April 29, we'll be having a PFC information night via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. where you can learn about open positions and how you can help the Thornhill community next year! More info & Zoom link is on Konstella. Please note we've changed our final PFC meeting to Monday, May 17 at 5:30pm, where we will be approving the budget for 2021-2022 and approving the PFC Board slate.
We hope you're well and we can't wait to see you (even if it's still on a computer). May your anchor be tight, your cork be loose, your rum be spiced and your compass be true.

Virtual Auction is THIS SATURDAY, May 1 at 6pm!

The virtual auction is this Saturday, May 1st from 6-7pm.
You must register (for free) for this event in order to receive your unique link to attend. Please help us out and do this by this Friday, April 30. (This isn’t a Zoom meeting!)
Peloton Bike: Buy a raffle ticket here for only $50 (or 5 for $200) by Friday, April 30 at 11:45pm. We’ll pick the winner live on Saturday and you do NOT have to present to win.
Door Prizes: Just by showing up on Saturday, you have a chance to win 1 of 2 door prizes - a $50 gift card to a local Oakland restaurant. You must be present to win.
Online Auction Items: There are over 50 items to bid on and it all closes this Saturday, May 1 at 6:30pm. Check out the catalog and bid now (and bid often!).
Teacher & Staff Hosted Events: These teachers have fun offerings for your kids: Mr. Thompson (read-a-loud), Ms. Finnell (zoo date), Ms. Forbes (singing telegram), Ms. Steimle (tuck-in), Ms. Calkins (wedding prep), Ms. Holland & Ms. Nobusada (Montclair Park), 2nd Grade Team (garden crafting), Ms. Gustafson (virtual pancakes), Principal Daubenspeck (virtual lunch).
Auction Items: Here’s a few of the items up for bidding: skateboard, signed baseball, bicycles, cabin getaway, restaurant gift cards, legos, Lair of the Bear full week, art pieces, fitness certificates, and the Mai Tai Magic Party!

We are working hard to fill our 2021-2022 PFC Board slate for next year! We have many open positions (see below) and would love to tell you all about them.
Please join us to learn more and/or to ask questions about a particular position! We'll start by "going around the room" and introducing ourselves. Then we'll go through all the open positions and tell you a bit more about them. Then we'll open it up for questions and discussion!

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Dinner Update
Last month we asked our wonderful Thornhill community to help us show gratitude to our teachers and staff! All the love and long hours they have put towards our students this year (and recently in person!) has not gone unnoticed.
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to gift our teachers and staff a dinner on us in the form of a GrubHub gift card. It's small but heartfelt and we all can use more small and heartfelt gestures these days.

Library News
Book checkout has started with in-person cohorts - it has been a pleasure to share some of our new and exciting books with our students!
Please take a look around your home for any straggling library books from last year - your student can return any time they are in school.
Lunches with Ms. Fox for 500+ minutes of reading during the Read-a-thon are happening on the following days:
2nd graders: Wednesday 4/28 at 11:30am
3rd graders: Wednesday 4/28 at 12:30pm
4th graders: Wednesday 5/5 at 11:30am
5th graders: Wednesday 5/5 at 12:30pm

The Thornhill Parent-Faculty Club (PFC) eNews team publishes this weekly newsletter each Tuesday in the school year to communicate school, PFC and OUSD news, events and information.
Email submissions to our Newsletter Chair, Jill Evans, at newsletter@thornhillschool.org by 8 p.m. Thursday for approval—nothing sent after this will be included in the following week’s newsletter unless there are extremely compelling extenuating circumstances.
