Mr. Corso's Weekly Update
May 3, 2020
Mr. Corso’s Principal’s Message
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
Staff Appreciation Week: Next week is Staff Appreciation Week. Normally, we need your help to show appreciation for our staff. Please consider sending an E-Card or Email next week to someone on our staff that you appreciate. Here is a link to E-Cards: LINK
Library Info: Library due dates have been paused until further notice. Students with textbooks or library books checked out, please put them in a safe spot and we will send out communication when the material will need to be returned.
We understand that many of you have concerns about your child falling behind academically, but please don’t worry. Your child is at the exact same place all of our other learners are, and in fact, all students across our country are experiencing this same scenario. Your child’s teachers are educational professionals who are skilled in teaching curriculum, including filling in any gaps of understanding. They will make the appropriate instructional adjustments to ensure each and every student learns the necessary content at an appropriate pace.
Thank you for your support, understanding, grace and HOPE,
Scott Corso

Home Field Ambassador of the Week
Lorretta Shughrue, for connecting with families to ensure students are participating in learning, you have been selected as our Home Field Ambassador of the Week.
Lorretta created a website with some distance learning resources accessible to parents. Parents can go to this source for "how-to" videos, reminders, updates, questions, etc. https://lshughrue32.wixsite.com/blackmountain
Thank you so much for all you do!
If you would like to nominate someone as a Home Field Ambassador, please email JoAnne Larson sjlarson@powayusd.com with your nominee and why.
Mr. Kooiman's Flappy Bird Challenge
Need a Challenge, or 3? - Please Share with Your Students
Some of you are always looking for a challenge. I am always looking for a good one. Well I found 3. Join us in one of our challenges...
Learn Something New - You might have more time on your hands than ever at home. Have you always wanted to learn how to do something? There is no better time than now to give something a try. Talk it over with your parents, make sure it’s safe and give it a try. I am learning to ollie on a skateboard (it’s been over 20 years since I skated and I could never ollie). Soon, I will show you my progress.
A Day in the Life - Our BMMS counselors have been sharing so much in their newsletters, including what a day in the life of a counselor is like. Here's the counselor newsletter for this week: https://www.smore.com/8vcd5 Here’s Mr. Shafer’s video...LINK. Make a video showing us what a day is like for you. Include what it’s like to do schoolwork at home, your hobbies, etc. Make sure everything is appropriate. Email me scorso@powayusd.com your final video (up to 1 minute and 30 seconds).
Mr. Kooiman's Flappy Bird Challenge - Check out Mr. Kooiman's challenge during our Distance Learning environment. Can you beat your teacher’s or your principal's score? https://youtu.be/OUsRmOoU0-w
