Double Replacement Reaction

This is what occurs when you mix the two aqueous solutions, Iron (III) Nitrate and Sodium Hydroxide together.

Chemical Equation: Fe(NO3)3 + NaOH → Fe(OH)3 + NaNO3

Balanced Equation: Fe(NO3)3 + 3 NaOH Fe(OH)3 + 3 Na(NO3)

Double Replacement Reaction

Single Replacement Reaction

Single Replacement Reaction (Exploding Egg)

An interesting video about how mixing together hydrochloric acid and zinc can cause an egg to explode while showing a what a single replacement replacement is and explaining how you can tell that a chemical reaction has taken place!

Chemical Equation: HCl + Zn → ZnCl2 + H2

Balanced Equation: 2 HCl + Zn → ZnCl2 + H2

Combustion Reaction

Fire It Up - Combustion Reactions

This is what occurs when methane is combined with oxygen gas, the reaction is very interesting and is always a crowd pleaser that shows what combustion reactions yield and can be performed in many different ways- for example like how Ms. K showed us and this way!

Chemical Equation: CH4 + O2 → CO2 + H2O

Balanced Equation: CH4 + 2 O2 → CO2 + 2 H2O
