SHISD Mid-Week Message

Weekly Superintendent's Message for Spring Hill ISD

Big picture

Start With Hello Week

Start with Hello Week was started by parents of students affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy on December 14, 2012. As a result, communities and schools across the country join together to make a more connected community of learners so that no one ever feels alone. Spring Hill ISD student leaders on every campus initiated plans this week to make sure all students are connected. See below for the great things students put in place this week.

Cross Country Team builds character and helps community

Spring Hill ISD is committed to developing well-rounded students and bringing our "Portrait of a Graduate" to life. A shining example of this is the cross country team. Under the student leadership of the team, a decision was made that the team would go to the local parks and cleaned up trash after their races were complete.

Coach Alford states that "I am very lucky to have such great runners who do things like this without being told." I agree Coach Alford, and I think SHISD is lucky to have a great group of student-athletes who are committed to giving back to their community.

Primary Panther Partners and Junior High Leadership Meetings

It is true, friends come in all shapes and sizes. Our first Panther Partners/Leadership meetings of the year have been such a great success. Our Primary students have enjoyed the privilege of walking to the Junior High for the very first time to meet their peer mentors in Mrs. Haney's Leadership classes. Our mentors will be coming to the Primary to visit us on our campus as well. We will take turns throughout the year visiting each other's campuses on a weekly basis.

This is the third year that Mrs. Haney has led this partnership between the two campuses. It has been such a wonderful way for the students to practice leadership skills and build relationships across grade levels. We look forward to spending more time with our new friends and we can't wait to see all of the great things our Panther Partners both big and small will accomplish together.
