Vision: Academic Excellence and Success
From Mr. R's Desk
As we end the first marking period, we need to reflect on our instructional strategies and the methods of delivery. It is vital that we make adjustments to ensure that ALL students are afforded every opportunity to experience success. We do not want to hear...“I taught it and they didn't get it.”
Please reflect on the following questions. How are you ensuring that ALL students have mastered an objective? How would you know? What do your weekly assessments look like? Are your assessments aligned with our expected outcomes? How engaging are your lessons? Are your students at the edge of their seats, ready to learn? Do your lessons have a purpose and are they relevant? What techniques, besides direct instruction do you use in the classroom? Are your daily objectives clear and concise? What percentage of students are being successful with daily tasks? How are you reaching out to those students who are not being successful? How often are your students expressing themselves in written form? I ask that you take the time to reflect on your current practices. If you are on target, GREAT! If not, please make the necessary adjustments so that our kids receive the best education possible.
End of the First Six Weeks
Reminder for teachers: Please ensure that your grade-book is updated on a weekly basis. Students and parents do not want any surprises at the end of the six weeks and neither do I.

Friday Night Lights - Coach Gaines on Being Perfect (2004)
"To me, being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there. It’s not about winning. It’s about you and your relationship to yourself and your family and your friends. Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn’t let them down, because you told them the truth. And that truth is that you did everything that you could. There wasn’t one more thing that you could have done. Can you live in that moment, as best you can, with clear eyes and love in your heart? With joy in your heart? If you can do that gentlemen, then you’re perfect." -Coach Gaines
