From Principal Becker
It's a great time to be a Crimson!
What a year we've had already in Crimson Activities! Among the many highlights:
- Girls' Tennis completed their best season in school history with a 4th place team finish at State.
- Girls' Volleyball maintained a top-10 ranking all year and gave all they had before falling to third-ranked Champlin at sections.
- Marching Band competed at US Bank Stadium for the Youth in Music Marching Band Championships, taking 9th place (out of 34 schools) overall.
- Girls' Cross Country advanced to State as a team, and Gannon Farrens advanced among the boys.
- Both Girls' and Boys' Soccer advanced to the AAA State Semifinals at US Bank Stadium.
- Football opens their post-season play tonight to defend their 6A State title.
Detailed information will be coming about Girls' and Boys' State Soccer, as each play at US Bank Stadium at 10:00 a.m. on October 31 and November 1, respectively. We will be offering fan buses **depending on available bus drivers** to support both programs.
On the academic front, we have five weeks remaining in the first trimester, and each day counts. Please monitor your Crimson students' progress in ParentVUE and reach out any time to teachers to collaborate for the success of your student.
As always, thank you for your support and partnership. There's so many amazing things occurring at Maple Grove, and we still have a long way to go! Feel free to contact me with any questions at beckerb@district279.org.
Yours very respectfully,
Bart Becker, Principal

Building a Better Future, Phase II
Critical school building projects proposed for ISD 279 schools in Maple Grove
Critical school building needs would be addressed at Maple Grove Senior High School, Maple Grove Middle School and area elementary schools if the November 7 ballot question is approved by voters.
Proposed projects for all Maple Grove schools within the district:
- Adding additional safety and security enhancements.
- Updating classrooms to accommodate varied learning needs, including special education, gifted/talented and multilingual learner needs.
- Updating classrooms and common areas with new furniture and flexible learning spaces.
- Modernizing library media centers to better support teaching and learning needs.
Additionally proposed projects at Maple Grove Senior High School:
- Enhancing the security features at the school’s main entrance (to reach district safety/security standards).
- Due to rapid growth and development, classroom and cafeteria additions are proposed. This would reduce overcrowding and the number of students throughout the district who would need to move schools to address space constraints.
- Expanding and modernizing career and technical education learning spaces.
Additionally proposed projects at Maple Grove Middle School and area elementary schools:
- Due to rapid growth and development, an elementary school in northwest Maple Grove is proposed. This would reduce overcrowding and the number of students throughout the district who would need to move schools to address space constraints.
- Expanding and modernizing science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) spaces at magnet schools (Brooklyn Middle STEAM School, Birch Grove School for the Arts, Weaver Lake: A Science Math & Technology School and Zanewood Community: A STEAM School).
- Adding an outdoor classroom to elementary and middle schools currently without such a space.
