Highlights from the 12-10-18 Board of Education Meeting
Public Hearings
- 2018 Tax Levy: The 2018 tax levy will fund the 2019-2020 budget. The Board considered a 4.99% levy
- Intent to Sell Up to $9,800,000 Working Cash Fund Bonds
There were no comments from the community on the tax levy or bond sale. In the regular meeting, the Board approved the levy. The Board will take action on the bonds at their January meeting.

2019-2020 School Calendar
Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Heather Hopkins presented the draft of the 2019-2020 calendar, developed by the Calendar Committee, a subcommittee of the Personnel Committee. She explained that the committee reviewed Board parameters and School Code in the calendar development. Highlights of the calendar include:

- 9/2 District Closed - Labor Day
- 9/30 District Closed
- 10/1 Institute Day – No Students in Attendance
- 10/4 Parent Teacher Conferences – No Students in Attendance

- 11/27 Institute Day - No Students in Attendance
- 11/28-29 District Closed - Thanksgiving Break
- 12/23-1/3 Winter Break

Student, Transportation & Building Use Fees
Mr. Miller also recommended that the District continue to offer an early bird discount of $50 for families who complete the annual registration process before May 24, 2019. Board members discussed the merits and effectiveness of this incentive. The administration will review whether or not there will be a change in the proposal to offer the discount.
