SRO Focus Group
Share your thoughts about LSD's current implementation of the School Resource Officers Program (police officers in schools) in a focus group!
Hosted by your 2021-2022 school board student representatives Emily Zou and Alicia Li, the focus group will take place during lunch on Wednesday, June 1st in the Rotunda.
Please fill out this form (forms.gle/WeVzBG4Wk9Ah5Zsx8) if you are interested
What is the Purpose of the Focus Group?
This is an opportunity for YOU to share your thoughts about school resource officers to the district. After the focus group takes place, Emily and Alicia will compile the feedback and present it to the school board. They will then use this feedback to further inform their
decision on whether to renew the SRO contract or how to modify the SO program.
However, specific students will not be named in the report, just the collective ideas of the group. This is to protect your privacy and ensure everyone feels safe during the discussion.

Students Demand Action
Friday, June third is the 8th National Gun Violence Awareness Day, followed by Wear Orange weekend June 4th-5th. On Friday, June 3rd, Student Demand Action would like everyone to wear orange to commemorate all the victims of gun violence. Orange was the color that Hadiya Pendleton’s friends wore in her honor when she was shot and killed in Chicago at the age of 15 years old. By wearing orange on June 3rd you are showing everyone that there needs to be a change. Together we will recognize all the individuals and communities that were impacted by gun violence, we will elevate stories and we will work together to reduce gun violence in our country. Together will share the dedication we all have to take the fights ahead of us. So please join the movement and wear orange.
