Bear Cave
Week of 10/31/22
From the desk of Principal Lam
iReady Testing: The iReady testing window opens on Nov. 7th. We will begin testing all students in grades K - 5 in November. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that district students take three times per year in reading and math. Each question a student receives as part of the assessment is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. A series of correct answers will prompt slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers prompt slightly easier questions. Once finished with the assessment, students receive a "just right" placement level. The test is untimed. You can help your child prepare for this assessment in several ways:
- Encourage them to do their best
- Encourage them to take their time, carefully read each question, and think about the best answer
- Help them get a good night's rest the night before they test
- Have them eat a nutritious breakfast at home or encourage them to get breakfast at school
- Plan ahead so that you and your child(ren) are not rushed in the morning
- Talk with your child after the test to see how they felt about it, what their results were, etc.
PTA: We are looking for volunteers to help with PTA and/or serve on the Executive Board.
Parent Survey: We want to know how we are doing! Our goal is to provide a supportive learning environment where students achieve at high levels. To do that, it is crucial that we work closely with our families to support our students. Please consider taking a moment to complete this short survey.
