Watermarks Coming To Google Docs
Google is switching the format of how users view a doc from the HTML format to a canvas-based rendering format. What does this mean for us? Well, it might mean that some extensions won’t work as they would have normally worked in the past. Google is trying to move away from the extensions for Docs and instead is encouraging users to install Add-Ons within Google Docs. When the switch is made, and right now it’s only in the beta stage, if you have an extension that isn’t working as it should then you should check to see if there is an Add-On that you can install for your Google Doc that will accomplish the same task. This new canvas-based rendering format will allow users to create more aesthetically pleasing documents and install watermarks in their documents. If you would like to see an example of this, check it out here. Here is a link to the May 11th release: Google Docs will now use canvas-based rendering, this may impact some Chrome extensions.
Again, it is only in the beta stage and we may not see this applied to our accounts for a little bit. Just wanted to give you a head up.

At the very least, it was comforting to know that many educators across the country are experiencing this same phenomenon. Template & Strategy Ready To Go and Use
Here is a strategy and template ready for you to use immediately. Tisha Ponicio(@TxTechChick) shared this template for students to create their own podcast. Let your students create their own podcast to summarize the novel they may be reading, an important historical event you may be studying in class, a scientific experiment, an artist, an important musical era, a foreign language, or even an explanation of a mathematical process or problem. For the students to create their own podcast, all they need is to sign in to Flipgrid and choose to record their voice only. If you would like help accomplishing this, don’t hesitate to reach out. I have compiled a few resources for Flipgrid throughout this school year.

Getting in Compliance
In an effort to get in compliance with New York State's Data Privacy and Security Policy (NYS Ed Law 2D), WCSD has to check and make sure that the sites, software apps, and tools that are utilized at school and with our students are compliant. If there are sites, software apps, and tools that you are using with your students, could you please take a second and fill out the form below to let us know what those sites, software apps, and tools are? Fill it out as a team, a department, or on your own.
Here is the link to the form: https://forms.gle/tmbzuGeP7dttjZ6S8 or you can access it by clicking on the form icon located to the right.
