An Artful Experience!
November 15 ,2019
Webster Thomas hosted the first (of hopefully many) Rochester Area Art Student Summit - geared towards senior AP Art students and Art College-bound juniors. We currently have over 200 students signed up from 11 local high schools.
The day was composed of 4 presentation/workshops run by local artists (see below), where they will each spoke about their artwork, art making process, their career/life journey and then will led our students through some sketchbook activities.
We are hoping that this was an extremely engaging and inspiring day for all of our students, to help them further see how process is just as important as product, and how our work can grow and mature over our lives and careers.
Our presenters were:
Sarah Rutherford: painter and muralist (https://hervoicecarries.blog, Instagram- @msshaftway, @hervoicecarries)
Olivia Kim: sculptor (https://oliviakimstudio.com, Instagram- @oliviakimstudio)
Chad Cleveland: teacher and painter (Instagram- @chad_cleveland.art)
Bill Stephens: retired Webster teacher, mentor and artist (instagram- @bill.stephens)
...while we're talking about art. Here is what I saw on a stroll down the art hall today
