A MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW PRINCIPAL, MS. LYNDSAY REYNOLDS!
Hello First Street Families!
It is my absolute pleasure to introduce myself to you as the next principal of First Street School! I am honored to be joining such a wonderful community and I look forward to getting to know each of you and your families! Every student who walks through our doors has the potential to achieve great things and as our school’s administrator, my responsibility is to provide each student every opportunity to do so. Our teachers do an amazing job of providing high quality instruction to our students and I look forward to collaborating with them to make certain that they have every possible resource necessary for our students to be successful and to find joy in learning.
Education was my first true passion in life. As an educator, I am passionate about ensuring that our school is a warm, safe learning environment for all students and families. I believe that the first step to great learning is making sure that students are excited to come to school every day. Throughout my career, I have taught all subjects in second, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. Most recently, I have been serving as the interim Assistant Principal at Glen Edwards Middle School getting to know the big brothers and sisters, neighbors, and mentors of our First Street students. During my time there, it has cemented my belief of how special this community is. I grew up in a small farming community in Oregon, much like Lincoln. In that town, our school was a central hub for the town’s families, serving as a place to come together regularly for celebration and support. Getting to know the First Street School neighborhood has felt like coming home to me and I am excited to continue the great tradition of community that our First Street family has already created!
Being available and accessible to our school community is incredibly important to me. I would love for each member of our community to feel comfortable reaching out to me in whatever method is most convenient and comfortable for them. Whether you prefer to call, text, email, or chat with me at drop off or pick up, please feel free to utilize whatever method of communication you like best. I also want our families to feel comfortable communicating with me in their home language if that is most comfortable. I believe in our school goal of educating students to become lifelong learners and I can think of no better way to do that than by modeling lifelong learning myself. While I do not speak Spanish fluently (yet!), I have a goal of being fluent in Spanish by the time our current kindergarteners are promoted from fifth grade. Feel free to hold me accountable to that goal! In the meantime, I will make use of the wonderful resources we have available on campus to ensure that communication is clear and comfortable for all of our families.
I love being out in nature and spending time in the sunshine. Some of my family’s favorite adventures involve hiking, kayaking, and riding bikes. I have a garden that I love spending time in, there is nothing better than a fresh tomato off the vine. My family spends a lot of time at events in Lincoln as well, so if you see us, be sure to say hello!
For the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year, I will be splitting my time between Glen Edwards and First Street, getting to know you and your scholars. You can expect to see me on campus Mondays and Thursdays. If you see me, please take a moment to stop and introduce yourself and your student(s). Families are a key part of the educational experience for our students; you are the expert on your child! I look forward to partnering with you to ensure that your child’s experience at First Street School is joyful and prepares them well for their bright future!

The Roadrunner Store is the place where kids can "shop" for items to purchase with the BEEP cards they earn here at FSS for Being Safe, Exercising Responsibility, Engaging in Learning, & Practicing Kindness!
Typically, the kids would be able to walk through our Roadrunner Store once a month and shop in person. For COVID safety reasons, we have set up a virtual on-line store. The items currently for sale are shown below. To place an order, kids simply need to print the order form attached below, mark the item(s) they are choosing, and turn their form into their teacher or the school office. The next turn in day of this school year will be Friday, January 19th! Deliveries will come the following school week!
