Panther Wrestling team
The Panther Wrestling team wrestled tough at the Arlington Martin Warrior Invite, which boasted 9 top 10 teams from 6a, 5a, and Prep. They missed top 15 by just 11 points while only filling 4 of the 14 weight classes. Nick Wohlferd went 1-2 after losing his opening match 11-9 heart breaker. Zackary Harris was able to go 2-2 where his 2 losses came to defending state champions. Enis Ida placed 6th in the 132lb weight after reaching the semis by beating the number 9th tabled in the state 6A wrestler at 138lbs. Freshman Evan Atchley placed 5th after battling back from a 1st round loss.
Your chance to see the Panthers will come on December 1st and 2nd at home and they host their tournament.
"This was a great measuring stick for our wrestlers. I love watching our guys compete with the best Texas has to offer. With all the athletes out due to the football playoffs and the team being young, I did not want to shy away from one of the toughest tournaments in the state. I saw some great things and I saw some things we really need to work on. We really need to work harder on our aggression and trusting our training. We had several matches where just a bit more effort, hustle, and focus would have made the difference. We have to get after it harder in practices so that needed effort shows up in our competitions. With that being said it's time to get back to work" -Coach Lazo
