2. Collect all intervention logs for students that YOU are keeping. Put these logs in purple folders for students with any pertinent information. Start intervention logs new at the end of grading period or end of MOY testing. For older students that are working with lower grade students--I will collect these and get them new recording sheets this month as well. I will give you these intervention logs after I collect them to add to purple folders. If you are a specials teacher doing interventions, please put these logs in my box as soon as possible and start a new intervention log. I will be asking to see your purple folders at the end of the month. I just want to look at each students data and what type of logs we have currently. This is not a "gotcha" --I just want to see how we are doing and what we need to do to make the process easier and more efficient--especially for kids we have in the MTSS process. You will bring these purple folders to our PLC meetings the week of January 29th.
3. Make sure your paperwork for your planning day has been completed and turned in to Cris.
4. Your next planning day for teachers and the EC Department will be at the end of March.
K-2 MUST be the week of March 19-23
3-5 MUST be the week of March 26-29
Sign up on this Google Doc (Benchmark testing will be going on during this time) and all paperwork MUST be turned in no later than January 22nd.
Reading 3D Testing Reminders
A couple of Reminders and Thoughts about Testing:
- We want the best snapshot of the students' true ability at this point in time.
- I know there are teachers in the county who jump levels such as going to R or O and move backwards to try and get a higher TRC score because some of the books are easier than others--DO NOT do this! This does not give us the best snapshot of our students. We had students this summer who were "proficient" on paper and could not go to summer camp but struggled BIG TIME! If we inflate or deflate scores for "our charts"--then we are hurting students. Regardless of other schools and scores, TES will not do that--we will continue to put children first.
- IF STUDENTS ARE TESTING ABOVE GRADE LEVEL--YOU MUST HAVE THE WRITTEN RESPONSE SCORED BY THE GRADE LEVEL OF THE BOOK. IF YOU SCORE A RESPONSE--PLEASE SIGN THE PAPER WITH THE SCORE SO IF THERE ARE QUESTIONS LATER--I KNOW WHO TO ASK. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ENSURE OUR RESPONSES ARE SCORED WITH FIDELITY.
- Read the reminders on Reading 3D before each test just so you remember the expectations. We have been away from the program all summer and it is a good refresher.
- Our new staff---if you are in doubt--ASK for Help!
Benchmark and Progress Monitoring Reminders
Please see the schedule below for Benchmarking and TRC Coverage.
*Assistants we are asking you cover classes based on this schedule. 4-5 please notice the schedule because it will adjust assistant coverage several days. I tried to make this as fair as possible. If you need switching or any adjustments--please let me know. Assistants, if you see a problem--please let me know. K-3 Teachers--make sure the assistant who is covering for you knows--in case they miss this email.

TES Goals--Plan with these in mind!
- Increase student to student interaction in conversation, summarizing, and discussion of content
- Vocabulary through student talk and rigor of text
- Complexity of Text
- Increase questioning of deep comprehension with all reading groups at each level. Do not wait for a student to be reading on a level for them to answer questions on that level orally.
- Application of phonics to multi-syllabic words in 2-5 and strong emphasis and mastery in K-1
- Growth Mindset and STAMINA
