What is heat exhaustion?
Heat exhaustion is the body's response to the loss of water and salt, usually through excessive sweating.
Symptoms of Heat Exhaustion
- Heavy Sweating
- Extreme Weakness
- Dizziness
- Confusion
- Nausea
- Clammy, Moist skin
- Pale or flushed complexion
- Muscle cramps
First Aid Treatment
- Have the victim rest in a cool, shaded or air conditioned area.
- Loosen victims clothing
- Have victim drink plenty of water or sports drink
- Have victim take a cool shower, bath or apply cool wet cloths
Prevention
- Wear loose fitting light colored clothes
- Avoid Sunburn
- Seek a cool place
- Drink plenty of fluids
