Greetings,
We had a wonderful second week of school and our staff is enjoying learning more about your students. This week we had our first fire drill and assembly where we reviewed the importance of community and citizenship at Bridger Elementary. Our students and staff did an excellent job of exiting the building and accounting for all students in five minutes. Pretty awesome for our first drill!
Our assembly this morning focused on the character trait of resilience, which is essential in the learning process. Learning new things can be frustrating for students and adults alike. Making mistakes is part of the learning process when we stretch ourselves, and we encourage students to be resilient when they are learning something new. Below are a few important updates for the weeks ahead:
No School September 23rd: There will be no school for students on Friday September 23rd.
Back To School Night September 29th: Mark your calendars for Thursday September 29th 6-730 for our annual in person Back to School Night. More details will follow about the agenda for the evening.
Bridger and CSS Community Fall Social 10/12 530-630: In order to support the future integration of the Bridger students that choose to stay as Creative Science students and the Creative Science students and families that will move to the Bridger community, we will be hosting a series of social events to allow students and families to get to know each other. Our first event will take place on Wednesday October 12th at Bridger Elementary. More details about the event will follow in the coming weeks.
Security Assessment: Today staff from the district office came to assess security at our school site. The team is putting together recommendations for our school to ensure we are providing the safest environment for our students. We are looking forward to receiving the recommendations.
Verification Process: It is imperative that every family complete the verification process on Parent Vue. This process ensures the school has working contact information for guardians and up to date emergency contacts. We have found ourselves in situations where we needed to contact families and had no working phone numbers. Please follow the instructions below to complete this process next week. If you have any questions, please call or email the front office for assistance.
Arrival procedures: Our team is continuing to learn and streamline our processes and procedures. Please review information below on adjustments to the arrival process next week.
This weekend is the Fall Fling. This is a great opportunity to build community with students and families. Thank you to our PTA for coordinating this fun event.
Have a wonderful weekend!

When you drop off your student, please only drive down eastbound on Market Street only. Market Street is very narrow and causes congestion.

Parent pick-up will be at the basketball court. There will be a dot to start the student line for each class (similar to what is currently happening). Parents, please only enter through the west side of the campus, through the parking lot or path leading to the street. We want to avoid people walking through the play area prior to the end of school. This is a safety concern.
Please note that Champions or other programs use our playground after school so, the playground is closed to any student not attending an after-school program. Thank you for your support in keeping the campus safe.

SUN news
Happy Friday! We hope you had a great start to the school year! We just wanted to give a few quick updates.
Earlier this week we passed out SUN interest forms for fall programming to teachers. If your student did not receive one, there are extra copies in the main office. If you are interested in having your student attend SUN this fall, please fill out the form and return it to the main office by September 16. The interest forms do not confirm enrollment! We will let families know if their student was accepted in SUN closer to October.
Next Friday (September 16) we will be hosting our monthly Free Food Market. The market will run from 3pm-5pm and be located outside of Portable 1, next to the playground. Everyone is welcome. Please remember to bring your bags to take home your produce!
Lastly, we are hiring extended-day instructors to help out during SUN fall programming! If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out to Cindy (marisol@latnet.org or 503-729-8821). You can find more information here: https://recruiting.paylocity.com/Recruiting/Jobs/Details/1251604
If you have any questions please feel free to email Danette (danette@latnet.org) or Cindy (marisol@latnet.org).

Counselor Corner
It's been such a joy to see students' eager and smiling faces this first week! They have many stories of their summers to share. I have some hard news to impart to you all. I will be moving from this beloved Bridger community to Woodstock Elementary school in a few weeks. I have been letting students know, as I visit their classrooms, that this move is a result of me needing to be closer to my home to tend to family members. My heart is here and I will be leaving a piece behind with this community when I go. Gizmo, the adored stuffed frog, will stay here and have a home in our new counselor's office! I have loved these students so much and have felt such warmth, resilience and care in this community. It has been a true honor to be trusted with your children. You will get to know Ms. Claudia and "Foxy" who are already forming close connections with kids and families! She is wonderful and welcomes parent connection. Claudia and I will stay in touch and I plan to come to some future Bridger events. My exit date isn't for a few more weeks, so feel free to call or email if you want to connect. lforsberg@pps.net or 503-272-1752 Much warmth to you all!
