Student Count Day
Tomorrow is the first of two pupil accounting days for the school year. It is very important that all students are in attendance unless ill. School funding from the State of Michigan is tied directly to count days. If your student(s) cannot attend school, please be sure to contact the main office.

Supporting The Crowther Family
Homecoming Parade
Our slot number is 10. Come out and join the Student Council, along with past and present students and parents from Stadium Drive! Also, bring a bag of candy to distribute to the crowd as we walk if you would like to.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon week is a national celebration that encourages and promotes students to choose to be drug free. This year, Red Ribbon week is October 23-27. The theme is “Your future is key, so stay drug free!”.
Please join Student Council as we promote making good choices with theme days:
- Monday, October 23 is “Gear up for a bright future” by wearing college gear.
- Tuesday, October 24 is “Use your words to make your future bright” by wearing your words.
- Wednesday, October 25 is “We stick together to help each other” by wearing grade level colors (DK/K – Blue, 1st - Purple, 2nd - Yellow, 3rd - Orange, 4th - Green, and 5th - Red).
- Thursday, October 26 is “Dress for success” by wearing your dress clothes.
- Friday, October 27 is “Show your pride by choosing to say ‘No!'" with a Lake Orion spirit day. Please join us as we celebrate our future by staying drug free!
Picture Retakes
Picture retake day is October 30. If your child was absent during the first round of pictures or if you are not happy with the outcome once photo packets are received, please plan on bringing your best on this date.
Students getting retakes will need to return their pictures from earlier this year to the photographer.
Fall Celebration
We will be holding our annual Fall Celebration on October 31. Our parade will begin at 1:30 PM. Many rooms will be having celebrations following the parade.
Students will be given time to change into their costumes before the start of the parade. Costumes should not reflect anything violent, scary, gruesome, or portray any dealings with death. We want this to be an enjoyable time for everyone, and some of our younger children can be frightened by “scary” costumes. Also, please keep in mind that students will be walking in their costumes and at times, up and down steps. As a result, masks should not restrict their ability see clearly.
Stadium Drive Helps All Students
The Lake Orion Community School District has adopted components of the Response to Intervention (RtI) model to assist in providing effective instruction targeted to individual student needs.
Under this model, all Stadium Drive students are given ‘benchmark’ reading (literacy in kindergarten) and math (numeracy in kindergarten) assessments three times per year as a ‘universal screening’ to help identify students that may require additional instruction in these areas. Teachers also use this information to track students’ skill growth in these areas.
Students identified as needing additional instruction in a given skill, may be provided additional support through a variety of interventions which may include:
in-class individual or small group instruction
working on a computer-based program
participation in a targeted skill group with a Learning Support Staff (LSS)
working individually with a ‘coach’ (i.e., older student, classroom volunteer, support staff)
As part of this model, your student may participate in one or more of these targeted interventions throughout the school year depending on his or her needs. School staff are very thoughtful in ensuring students do not miss key classroom instruction when participating in an intervention. Each student’s progress is monitored regularly, and students are moved out of the intervention when they demonstrate mastery of the given skill.
If you have any questions pertaining to this process, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
