WBMS Friday Notes
Reflections from Ms. Perkins
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
We had so much fun celebrating the end of the first nine weeks with music in the cafeteria and special coupons for additional Webb Way ticket winners. Students met with their Compass advisors to share and reflect successes and areas for growth, so we are all ready for the next nine weeks of the semester. On Thursday, we applauded our Webster Award recipients who have illustrated excellence in the areas of academics, athletics, altruism, and art, and I was joined by the 6th grade principal for the day who helped me with classroom observations, facilities rounds, and busses. And we ended the week with our first connect session for our 7th and 8th graders. Connect is a part of Compass where students select interests and then are placed with a staff member and other students who share the interest so they can “connect.” Connect classes vary from games to crafts to sports. The build relationships and are just – plain-fun.
I am looking forward to next week when we will begin our Book Fair and host the most magnificent night of the year – International Night, which falls on a Community Balance Night (Thursday, October 25). WBMS is home to students who originate from nearly 50 countries, and 20 countries will engage in our cultural sharing in our cafeteria. Later, our students will present a parade of nations and a cultural showcase. Please make time to come to this event if you are able.
Lastly, our 8th graders will take IOWAs on Monday – Thursday, so please make sure they go to bed early, eat a good breakfast, and charge their Surfaces, so they are set to do their best. As always, enjoy your weekend together as a family!

Scholastic Book Fair is here!
The online option for the book fair is live NOW, so you are welcome to shop online for students or their teachers’ classrooms (or share the information with family members who might be interested in ordering gifts).
Our on-site book fair will kick off at our International Festival on Thursday, October 25th, so families are encouraged to come shop when they visit the festival that evening. Students will also visit with their Language Arts classes and we have a new option this year for parents to direct their child’s spending at book fair. The eWallet option allows parents to designate an upper limit amount for spending, and deducts only the amount the student spends during the fair.
To access the online fair, learn more about the eWallet option, and see the interactive book flyer, please visit http://www.scholastic.com/bf/webbbridgems

Carpool Safety at WBMS:
For the safety of our students, please follow our carpool safety guidelines:
- Our one and only carpool entrance is in the front of the building.
- Please drop and retrieve students in the front of the school. There is no drop off or retrieval in the bus area or by the music hall.
- Our carpool drop off and retrieval car line follows a signal (not double) lane. If the line is backed up in the circle, cars should wind around the parking lot.
- When approaching the front of the carpool line, please pull up to the yellow line (past the front entrance to the school).
- There is no parking in the carpool line or pick-up/drop-off circle for any reason.
- With one carpool entrance, we must be courteous of other drivers.
- Please remind your child to wait on the sidewalk close to the pick-up/drop-off area, watch for your vehicle, and not to cross in front of cars in the carpool lane.
Thank you for your cooperation.
