Carpool Tags

Carpool tags will be given out at Meet The Teacher. New families will need to read the carpool directions and sign a form, which will include who is allowed to pick up the child from carpool.

Durant Road Elementary issued carpool tags MUST be used this school year. No handmade tags will be accepted. If you do not have your tag, you will be required to show your ID before your child will be called out for carpool.

All family members will use the same carpool tag number. New families will receive 2 tags to start with. If additional tags are needed, families will need to pay $3 per tag.

If you have lost your tags, please contact the school and we can issue you a new carpool number and tags. Your current number will then need to be discontinued.

If you are a current family and need to change who can pick up the child through carpool, please send an email to Mrs. Sanchez at tsanchez@wcpss.net

Bus Route Changes

WCPSS has changed some bus routes for DRES so please locate your current bus stop and bus route # so you will be prepared to get your student on the correct bus for school on Friday, June 29.

https://webarchive.wcpss.net/school-directory/bus-routes/398.html

If you are new to DRES and do not know your child's bus stop, please call the school at 919-870-4220 and we can give you this information.

Walkers

If your family lives within walking distance to the school and would like to walk your child to and from school, you will need to fill out a walker form for this year and receive walker badges. These badges will need to be with the parent that comes on campus to pick up the student. Two walker badges will be given per family. All people coming on campus to pick up a student must have a walker badge on them so they are easily identifiable. Walker directions will be given to parents when they register as a walker. A walker table will be set up at Meet The Teacher.

Kindergarten Staggered Entry & Kindergarten Meet The Teacher

Kindergarteners will only come to school 1 day during 7/29-8/3. If you do not yet know your Kindergarten teacher or staggered entry date, please call the school between 8:30am-4:00pm and we will get this information to you.

Parents are welcome to sign in and walk their Kindergartener down to the classroom on their staggered entry day only. No more than 2 adults per child will be allowed to enter the building and must have ID's on them.

All Kindergarteners will start on Friday, 8/5/22. They will need to come into school from the bus, as registered walkers, or through carpool. If your child needs additional assistance to get out of the vehicle through carpool, please turn on your 4-way blinkers and staff will be alerted to assist your child.

We will have staff available to walk the children down to their classrooms from the bus entrance and carpool entrance.

Kindergarten Meet The Teacher will be Thursday, August 4 at 11:00am. Parents will come in and learn about the classroom, what the children will be learning throughout the year, and ways to stay updated.
