Library News
Thank you for a Wonderful Time at the Winter Fair!
Mrs. Thomas and the Friends of the Gayman Library were so excited to participate in the Winter Fair on Saturday, Jan. 29. What an amazing event! The proceeds from our cotton candy sale will be used to support supplemental library programing, including our upcoming “Donuts with Dad” and “Muffins with Mom” events for Families and Reading Month (stay tuned for details this spring!). Funds raised also support other reading promotions, such as our 5th and 6th grade girls’ and boys’ book clubs as well as library decorating efforts. We will be very busy this spring!
It was also a pleasure to put our students’ hands to work creating fingerprint artwork that connected to our “Beautiful Hands” theme and to share books from our Little Free Library. Thank you all for coming out, visiting us, and supporting our library programs!

Parent Positive Series - Understanding Childhood Brain Development: How to Unlock Potential
Parent Positive is proud to welcome Dr. Jay Stone, PsyD to our parent speaker series. Dr. Stone will be presenting on Wednesday, February 1st at 7:00 PM in the Lenape Middle School Auditorium. His talk will focus on:
Understanding Childhood Brain Development: How to Unlock Potential.
Join James J. Stone, PsyD, Doylestown Health neuropsychologist, to learn tools and strategies to help nurture and maximize your child’s potential. The presentation is designed to help parents understand how their child’s brain processes information at different ages, how skill sets evolve developmentally, and how to translate that knowledge into appropriate expectations of their child. Parents will leave with strategies to empower their child to complete tasks at hand, and an understanding of when to encourage them to try on their own, and when to step in and help.
Registration for this free event is encouraged but not required.
This program is part of the Parent Positive Speaker Series, a collaboration among Doylestown Health, CB Cares, the CB School District, and the CB Family YMCA
Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
February #33. Interpersonal Competence. Young person has empathy, sensitivity, and friendship skills. Young person cares about and is aware of other people's feelings. Boomerang nominations may be emailed to Suzanne Vass at svass@cbsd.org, or printed out and sent into the office.
