From the Desk of Dr. Kempf
Next week are Math state assessments. Please make sure your in-person student is ready by having a fully charged iPad, a restful nights sleep, and a good morning breakfast. The ELA assessment seemed to be condensed compared to past years and did not take the allotted time to complete. Hopefully, we see that same in Math. Distance learning students should have received communication this week about their opportunity to take the assessment at Allen Field House. If you still have not received this communication please call Students Services (785-330-2227) and we can help problem-solve with your family.
Kind Regards,
Dr. Kempf

National History Day
Students interested in applying for National History Day should email Mrs. Miescher-Lerner at jmiesche@usd497.org to set up a time to discuss the project. According to https://www.nhd.org/ " Each year more than half a million students participate in the National History Day Contest. Students choose a historical topic related to the annual theme and then conduct primary and secondary research. You will look through libraries, archives, and museums, conduct oral history interviews and visit historic sites. After you have analyzed and interpreted your sources, and have drawn a conclusion about the significance of your topic, you will then be able to present your work in one of five ways: as a paper, an exhibit, a performance, a documentary, or a website." For more information about National History Day view these sites: https://www.nhd.org/ and https://www.nhd.org/how-enter-contest
Solo Music Festival
Everyone is invited to play, no one is required. Participants receive double extra credit, one waived playing test, personalized instruction, professional contest feedback and recognition and awards at the spring concert.
Congratulations to all who entered and the ratings that were achieved!
