Kick off to Literacy @Cleveland Ave Elementary

Congratulations to the students and staff for a successful Literacy Kickoff program. The "Let's Glow Read" Celebration was fun and filled with excitement. Let's keep the momentum going with our next school-wide events.

It's amazing to hear the students sing/hum " Old Town Reading" in the hallways.

International Dot Day

International Dot Day was celebrated on Friday, September 13, 2019 at CAE! Thank you teachers and staff for the great participation. We really are showing a warm climate and culture in the building while celebrating literacy.

S.W.A.G. Fridays

Florida A & M University

We will have our first S.W.A.G. Friday on September 27, 2019 where we are representing FAMU. We need 100% participation to help support APS's mission of every student being career and college ready by graduation. Two students from Mr. Polk's class will present information about FAMU at the pep rally. Students and staff are asked to wear orange and green and or FAMU paraphernalia on Sept 27th.

S.W.A.G. stands for See What Achievement Gets. By having S.W.A.G Fridays we are instilling in our students that college is an option and a goal they can attain.

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be at CAE University on September 30th - October 4, 2019. Students, staff and parents will have the opportunity to preview the fair on S.W.A.G. Friday ( September 27th) if it is assembled and ready. The Book Fair is a time for students and teachers to buy books for their own personal home library. Teachers, you will receive preview flyers of some of the books that will be available at the fair. Please send they flyer home to have the students preview if with their parents and make a wish list for shopping. We will accept cash and parents can come, in person, to use their credit or debit cards. Please share this information on your Class Dojo.
Big picture

myOn and Accelerator Reader/ Look Who's Reading at CAE

We are looking for the students with the highest points per grade level and the highest points per classroom on AR Tests. These students will be recognized during the morning announcements on the first school day of the month and at the pep rally. Teachers should encourage their students to read books through myOn and take AR tests on those books through Renaissance Learning. myOn is a reading app purchased by APS that is located in My Backpack. The district will and can review our school-wide usage of the app, so let's make sure we take full advantage of it.
