Cedar Grove Elementary School
Home of the "Proud Patriots"
The mission of Cedar Grove Elementary is to grow our students into respectful, curious and productive citizens.
Arrival & Dismissal, ETC.
If at first you don't succeed...
I'm sure you noticed the complement of district security personnel, central administration and Toms River Police Officers who came to lend their support and guidance during arrival and dismissal. Alas, we simply have too many cars!
In order to alleviate some of the congestion that we are experiencing due to fewer bus riders, we have arranged to have staff on duty early to accommodate an earlier opening of our doors. Until further notice, our A-wing and B-wing doors will open as of 8:55 a.m. to welcome students into the gymnasium. Students will assemble (socially distanced) until 9:20, when they will be dismissed to class.
We kindly ask that you continue to follow our "Drop & Go" procedures:
- While you are waiting to drop off your child, collect all belongings and “mask up” to speed up drop off when you arrive at the curb.
- Pull up as far as you can along the curb to make room for as many cars as possible Do not make multiple stops along the curb. (Security guards will be on hand to assist you with this procedure.)
- Do not get out of your car.
- As soon as your child safely leaves the car, exit the parking lot. Do not watch your child walk into the school building.
- Be respectful if staff members remind you of our procedures; they are outside to support a smooth and safe arrival for our students.
Dismissal will remain a challenge, so I kindly ask that parents continue to walk whenever possible.
Additional information regarding phase four:
- Our Next Step (English) - Presentation from Q&A session
- Our Next Step (Spanish) - Presentation from Q&A session
- Alpha HP Fogging Video - Alpha HP is a hydrogen peroxide based cleaner. Watch this video of Mr. Baccello (Head Custodian) and Mr. Clanton (Night Supervisor) demonstrate how the Alpha HP fogger works.
- Students may be marked "Present but Virtual" in Genesis when a student is scheduled to be in-person and cannot attend because they are displaying symptoms and have documented those symptoms on the COVID-19 Screening Form or is out on quarantine.
- To change your child's learning model selection, you must complete the "Request to Change Learning Model" document on the front page of our website under COVID-19 Resources. Per policy, we have 10 days to accommodate this request.
Tips to support our success:
- Please be sure to complete the COVID Health Screening form daily and only send healthy children to school.
- Staying Safe at CGE - This video was shared with our students to remind them of how to navigate the hallways, the importance of hand washing and the proper way to wear a mask.
- Fostering Independence During Morning Drop-Off -- These strategies are recommended by our staff members, Chana Birnbaum, Occupational Therapist, and Jaclyn George, Physical Therapist. We hope these tips help support our littlest "Patriots'" growth.
- If your child eats a snack during their school day, please limit it to a snack that your child can independently open and enjoy within ten minutes.
- Please ensure your child is prepared with a coat to go outside for mask breaks and recess.
Special Area Enrichment
Voluntary Opportunities for Students
If students choose to attend an enrichment class, be sure to attend only at a time that is not previously scheduled with a classroom teacher, ESL teacher, basic skills teacher, G/T teacher or resource room teacher.
Click on the Enrichment Calendar for the schedule and live links. This is our current schedule of events. We will be taking attendance and gauging student feedback to determine the success of these classes and make modifications, as necessary.
We hope your children enjoy these additional experiences!
Congrats! Attendance Matters!
We are proud of you!

Kindergarten Registration
Secure your spot!
Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year is officially open. We strongly encourage all of our families with preschool-age children to visit the registration page of our district website and complete the quick and easy online registration process as soon as possible.
The district is anticipating that next year will usher in a full return to in-person learning. Even if uncertainties remain for your family, we strongly encourage you to register regardless. Claim your child’s spot, their school, and have the peace of mind of knowing your child is in the system and kindergarten ready. Any changes down the road can be handled without a problem.
The registration webpage has been revised to include all resources to assist you with the online process, including video tutorials.
Preschool registration for 2021-2022 will open March 8.
