Welcome Back to School!!
We are so excited to welcome students back to school this week & officially start the 2020-2021 school year. Our teachers & staff have been busy attending professional development to prepare for the upcoming year & to provide your child(ren) a quality education. During these uncertain times I want to assure you that Auxier's top priorities are to ensure all students have a smooth transition into Google Classroom & provide technology assistance in a timely manner. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this new world of education!!
Thank you to all the families that attended Meet the Teacher on August 3rd!! It was great to see all of the students & families filling the hallways with enthusiasm & interacting with our staff virtually. Be sure to stay up-to-date on Auxier information & district updates through our weekly newsletter.
We look forward to great year!!
Safer. Stronger. Together.

Leader in Me: Lighthouse School
The Leader in Me provides our students an opportunity to develop the essential leadership skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. At Auxier, we believe each child has a unique strength & will be inspired to demonstrate their leadership. Through the common language of the 7 Habits, your child will become more motivated, organized, engaged, & will begin to take ownership of their learning.
Throughout the year, you will have the opportunity to apply the 7 Habits at home with Family Challenge Activities. These challenges will be sent home by your child's teacher & posted in Aviator Beacon.
August Family Challenge
As we review Leader in Me with our students, classes will be working on their mission statements. These will be collaboratively created to represent who we are and what we are working towards within our classrooms. Once created, they will join our wall of class mission statements to go with our school-wide mission statement, Inspiring the Leader Within.
This month, we challenge you to work as a team to create or revise your Family Mission Statement.

Attendance for CUSD Distance Learning
Starting the school year in a virtual instructional model will require students to be academically engaged on a daily basis. Regular class attendance is essential for success in school. As required by state law, student attendance must be taken every day. Students will be marked present if they have been academically engaged in class that day.
Academic engagement can include, but is not limited to:
- Attempted and completed assignments
- Participation in Google Meets live instruction
- Documented access of pre-recorded instructional videos
- Email, phone or other communication with the teacher constituting virtual instruction
- Minutes logged on online learning platforms such as BUZZ, Google Classroom or other online applications
Students will be marked absent if they have not demonstrated academic engagement for the day. Parents/guardians will receive a phone call to notify them of the absence. PreK - 6th grade teachers will be reporting attendance by 11 a.m every day.
In the event that a student is marked absent but did engage in class instruction after attendance was reported, the student's attendance will be adjusted the next school day and he/she will be marked present.
