Why should men get rights and women not?

Imagine not having a certain right just because of your gender; something you can't control about yourself. The 1960s was a time where women were striven for independence. The traditional role of women changed greatly during this time. The fight began for women to get equal rights as men.

National Organization for Woman

In 1966 a group of woman met in the hotel room of Betty Friedan to discuss their frustration. They had an to present a resolution condemning the EEOC. They next day the conference rejected the resolution. The woman decided to create a woman's right group. The National Organization for Woman was the result. NOW claimed some 1,000 members within just a year. This organization tried to influence elected officials to ensure economic and social equality for woman.
