Betty Friedan
This author sparked the revival of the woman writes movement. Nearly all woman went to college were dissatisfied with there lives. Betty's book inspired many woman to attempt to change there roles in the world.
Equal Pay Act
Kennedy passed the Equal Pay act in 1963. This act made it illegible to pay woman less than men were payed. Unfortunately only 2/3 of working woman were unaffected by this bill. However, over the next 10 years, 171,000 workers used this law to win $84 million in back pay.
Gloria Steinmen
Gloria Steinmen was one of the women who inspired activism during the 1960's. She wrote a political column for New York magazine. Later, in 1071 she later helped find the National Woman's Political Caucus. This encouraged woman to run for political office.

Equal Rights Amendment
Following the controversy of the 1970s was followed with the Equal Rights amendment. The ERA sought to end discrimination on the basis of sex.

"The defeat of the Equal Rights Amendment is the greatest victory for woman's rights since the woman's suffrage movement of 1920."
Shirley Chrisholm
Shirley Chrisholm was the first African American women elected to congress. She was also the first women to run for president. Although she did not receive the Democratic Party's nomination, this showed how much women increased in holding professional jobs.
