Mypaymentplus: Please remember to pay school fees such as StoryWorks, Wordly Wise, Agenda, Newspaper, and Field Trips. We are receiving expense reports each week that shows who has paid their fees. We will be sending home individual reminders soon to our friends who still need to pay. Let us know if their is a family hardship or situation as to why the fees can not be paid. Thanks!
This week in Language Arts...
Language Arts - Parents, please remember to check on the Genre Bingo progress at least once a week. Some cards are still blank and we are entering week 3 of school next week. Also, the rules for filling out the card are very specific (found on the back). I need your help in making sure those are followed. The card will earn a score in reading at the end of the 1st quarter.

This week in Math...Place Value

- use base 10 blocks and a number line to understand the relationship between a digit and its place value.

- demonstrate how water changes states from solid (ice) to liquid to gas (water vapor, steam) and changes from gas to liquid to solid
- identify the freezing point of water, the temperature at which liquid water becomes a solid (32 degrees F, 0 degrees C) and identify the boiling point of water, the temperature at which liquid water becomes a gas (212 degrees F, 100 degrees C)
- demonstrate and explain the water cycle and the role of evaporation, precipitation and condensation
Social Studies: Geography and Native Americans

- locate where Native Americans settled with emphasis on the following groups: Arctic (Inuit), Northwest (Kwakiutl), Plateau (Nez Perce), Southwest (Hopi), Plains (Pawnee), Southeastern (Seminole)
- compare and contrast how the above groups utilized what was available in their regional environment to obtain food, clothing and shelter
- explain and the concepts of voluntary exchange and division of labor
- explain why each of the Native American groups occupied the areas they did with emphasis on why some developed permanent villages and others did not
