Helping out TREP
We will continue to collect donations through parent-teacher conference week. You can make a cash donation to TREP and enter any teacher into a drawing for a free personal day in any of the schools' main offices. TREP is in desperate need of cash for overhead costs to keep the doors open. Please help others in the community if you can.
No Paper Report Cards
It is very important that parents and guardians are monitoring grades on a weekly basis is Skyward Family Access. You can do this from a computer or from your phone by downloading the Skyward app.
Since beginning Grading for Learning school-wide this year, we are giving much more information and feedback about student learning to both you and the students. It is no longer a single letter grade that represents all learning for a class. Students receive a grade that indicates their progress in attaining each standard in each class.
It is important to note, many standards are assessed over multiple quarters or the entire school year. Students are not expected to master these standards in the first quarter. Here again, are the meanings of our grade indicators:
- M (Mastering)- The student meets current grade-level standards and expectations. They can consistently perform what is expected independently.
- P (Progressing)- The student meets many/most of current grade-level standards, but still needs to demonstrate proficiency or consistency in some, and still may need some help.
- B (Beginning)- The student meets some/few grade-level expectations, must demonstrate proficiency or consistency in many, and needs significant support.
- INC (Incomplete)- The assessment was not completed, therefore there is no way to assess whether or not the student meets the standard. The assessment must be completed.
- C (Completed)- This grade mark indicates that a practice assignment was completed. We do not grade practice so students are able to make mistakes and learn without penalty. This is simply a way to recorded whether or not an assignment was completed.
Grades for the first quarter will be finalized on Friday, November 8th. Students with incompletes must complete the assessments they are missing. No grade will be assigned until they are completed.
You're Invited! Parent Connect Focus Group
Family Engagement Liaisons are parents of children with IEPs who have lived knowledge of special education and the IEP process. They promote collaborative relationships between families and schools. Family Engagement Liaisons assist the district in building school and family partnerships. They collect resources to assist families in navigating the IEP process and work with educators to improve the IEP process for families. In addition, they collaborate with district staff to develop family engagement plans, culturally responsive family engagement activities and provide technical assistance on the development of family engagement activities with a focus on literacy and reading.
Student Absences
If a student is absent for 3 or more days parents may be required to provide a doctor’s excuse to excuse the absence.
Quarter 2- Winter Dress
Students are outside before school and expected to go outside for recess every day unless it is raining, heavy snow, or extreme cold. Please make sure your child is dressed for outside weather.
