Dear Thacher Families:
Each year, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) publishes a report card for each school based on many metrics, including MCAS, attendance, etc. Below, you will find an introductory letter which contains a link to view our 2023 School Report Card.
Sincerely,
Frank W. Rich

Lost and Found
This Week in Physical Education
As all students wrapped up playing basketball, we shifted gears into our hockey unit down in the gym. All grade levels have been working on 3 major fundamentals of hockey which include shooting, passing, and puck/stick handling. Students have learned the safety of holding the hockey stick and how to hold it correctly to ensure a fun and safe environment.
Students have been playing a variety of smaller hockey activities working on those fundamental skills. Within the next week students will be learning offense vs defense and how to play those different positions in a 3 team class hockey game.
As a reminder, on students PE days it's always best they have a pair of comfortable sneakers for PE. They can always change out of their boots prior to class if needed. It makes it for a more enjoyable and safe day down in the gym.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!

Through the Helpline that operates from 9 AM- 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and 8 AM- 6 PM on Tuesday and Thursday, callers will complete an intake which takes about 15-20 minutes and then within a day or so of their call will be assigned to work with a Resource and Referral Counselor who will help them navigate the challenges of finding mental health services, including obtaining a referral match to an outpatient provider, as well as information and resources related to mental health and wellness. Please see What to Expect When You Call the Helpline or visit interface.williamjames.edu for more information.
The INTERFACE Helpline is not an emergency service. If you or the person you are seeking to assist requires a crisis response to meet immediate safety needs, please call 988, 911, go to your local emergency room, or find your local crisis services by calling 833-773-2445 and asking for crisis support.

A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase
On March 14, 2024, from 6:00-7:30 PM, Attleboro Public Schools (APS) will host A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase. Now in the second year of this annual event, this evening is an opportunity for APS staff, students, families, and community organizations to come together as students throughout the district display their learning experiences and local community resources share information about their services and programs. The goal of this event is to bring all stakeholders from the community together to celebrate student successes and share resources. More information to come soon. We look forward to seeing you there!
Survey
Each year, students in grades 3-12 particpate in a survey as part of Attleboro's involvement in the Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment (MCIEA) which aims to help schools and the community measure school quality outside of simply relying on MCAS data. Our third and fourth grade students will be participating in this year's survey between now and February break. The survey takes approximately 15-30 minutes and is done during class. If you would like to see the results of previous surveys/questions, please visit the MCIEA School Quality Measures Dashboard.
