A Note From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we've gotten into the swing of things, we are constantly reviewing safety rules and procedures with students - from the parking lots, to the cafeteria, to the playground, and of course in classrooms. As mentioned last week, we have conducted a lockdown drill and two fire drills so far, with more to come. Several Chardon Schools bus drivers came by to review bus safety with students this week (see photos below!), and in the coming weeks we will have the Munson Fire Department visit to review fire safety with students.
You help us tremendously by continuing to follow safety and security measures when at school! Make sure that when you drop your child off or pick them up (outside of the normal drop off and pick up times), you enter the building with them and sign them in. PLEASE do NOT drive to the front of the building if there are ANY buses in the driveway, at ANY time of day. You may pull right into the teachers' lot in the front of the building and walk to the front door. THANK YOU for helping us to keep students safe!

Infinite Campus Annual Update
The Annual Update must be completed by ALL Chardon Local Schools households every year, for every student, even if there are no changes. This ensures that you have created your Parent Portal Account so that we have the most accurate information for your student and household, so we may contact you promptly in case of an emergency, allows you to pay for student meals and school fees online, and gives you access to important forms and documents, including report cards. The window to complete the Annual Update will be open until September 30, 2023. Please find Annual Update instructions HERE.
Topper Ticket Winners!
Topper Tickets are part of Munson's PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system and are given to students as a special recognition when they demonstrate a Topper trait - Taking Responsibility, Offering Kindness, and Persevering. Each day, we randomly select a few Topper Ticket winners from each grade level to receive a prize. Watch the newsletter for their names each week!
1st: Lucas Kelling, Lizzy Deren, Jason Torres, Cara Kramer, Victoria Ramirez, Franki Kula
2nd: Adeline Crookshanks, Landon Tasler, Gianna Prunty, Quinn Martin, Maeve Finucan, Jylen Devonshire
3rd: Kylie Turner, Damon Morrison, Camryn Pellegrini, Jay Ice, Adam Hren, Evan Treat
Keep up the great work, Hilltoppers!

Munson Staff Spotlight
Each week, the Munson Messenger newsletter will feature a Munson staff member with whom your child likely interacts regularly. We hope this gives you a chance to get to know more of our wonderful staff members! This week, meet Mrs. Taucher!
What is your name and your job? I'm Laura Taucher and I teach World Language this year.
How long have you been at Munson? This is my 22nd year of teaching, my 9th in Chardon, and my first year at Munson.
What is your favorite thing about Munson? In my couple weeks at Munson, I am in love with the enthusiasm! The students come in with so many questions, they're excited to tell me Bonjour when we see each other in the hallway, and the staff is even joining in!
What do you like to do outside of school? I enjoy cross stitch, yoga, and running for a really long time. I also roller skate quite a bit now that my middle child works at the Chagrin Valley Roller Rink!
