A Message from Dr. Bearden
Thank you for taking the time to read the Hilltop Happening this week. We have had a lot of rain and we experienced winter, snow, spring, and then winter again within the first three weeks of February! Hopefully, the last week of February will bring a ton of sunshine! I know the children and staff experienced enough indoor recess due to rain and/or below freezing temperatures and want outdoors to enjoy our newest playground equipment. As usual, SHE will be busy in the coming weeks and I will keep you up to date:
Wildly Attainable Goal Setting (W.A.G.S) for Student-Led Conferencing Feb. 12th @ 12:45 for 2nd & 3rd grades; Feb. 13th @ 12:45 for K & 1st; and Feb. 14th @ 12:45 for 4th & 5th;
Thank you to all the parents and staff, who supported our students during WAGS on Feb. 12th thru 14th. Participation in this event was outstanding and the feedback from staff, students, and parents was positive. WAGS made our students the center of attention and I was proud/amazed as I listened/watched our students leading their conferences and sharing their data with parents and/or staff. Many students also recorded their presentations and uploaded these to SeeSaw. It was an opportunity for parents to look/listen/learn about students and their classrooms. WAGS will be an annual, school-wide event!!
SGC Parent Elections:
The purpose of a governance council is to provide parents, school staff, and community members with a leadership role through monitoring and implementation of the school's strategic plan. You can read more about school governance council candidates by visiting www.fultonschools.org/Page/7358
Several parents have reached out about serving with me on the SGC. I hope that you also will consider running for a parent or position! I am passionate about the partnership between familly and school! I hope that you will consider declaring your candidacy and potentially serve SHE with the other council members and me.
Kindergarten Round-Up on Thursday, 2/20, @ 8:45
We had close to 100 families visit Summit Hill for our Kindergarten Round-Up on Thursday! During their tour, our future Huskies visited the kindergarten hall, the media center, and sat on a school bus, learning something new at each stop. Parents also received a great deal of information and Ms. Val treated our visitors with cookies and juice at the end. Thank you to all who helped out with this fun event!!
Math Night for SHE Families @ 5:30 on Friday, February 21st:
Thank you to our business partner, Mathnasium, for providing snacks, games, and fun for our Family Fun Night! We had a great turnout and it was fun to watch families unplug, spending time with one another. All children received a goodie bag and these lucky families won door prizes: Chan, DeCell, Hellrung, and Hobbs. Our next family event will be Bingo & Baskets on Friday, March 20th @ 5:30. I hope to see you there!
