MAYOR’S TEEN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The City of Chandler is accepting applications through January 25, 2019, for the Mayor's Teen Leadership Academy. This is a great opportunity for high school students to learn about the inner-workings of city government by meeting with the Mayor and City Council members as well as managers and staff from every city department. The academy will be held March 11 - 15 during the first week of spring break. Students will meet from 9 a.m. - noon each day during this five-day academy and participate in activities to better understand how Arizona's fourth largest city is run.

Attached is a link to the webpage and application. Students are asked to fill out the application and submit a brief essay of 200 words or less. Applicants must be City of Chandler residents.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

The High School Health and Wellness program at CHS has been working on educating the students of Chandler High School about the dangers of vaping. This brochure was created by CHS student, Michaela Davis, as part of her MYP project. She did a great job sharing some of the dangers of vaping. If you have questions about vaping or would like more information, please visit the webpage for our Health and Wellness Drug Prevention Program

IB SHADOW DAYS

CORE VALUE HIGHLIGHT

CHS is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The aim of all IB programs is to develop internationally-minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

IB learners are “Open-minded”. They understand and appreciate their own culture and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and they are willing to grow from the experience.
