Information about Band/Orchestra Registration for Next Year's 5th Graders

Bravo, Band, Chorus & Orchestra! What a Wonderful Spring Concert!

Staff Changes for Next Year

Mrs. Colleen Miles, PE teacher at Washington and Whittier, will be retiring at the end of this school year. Mrs. Craig will be working with the principal of Whittier on securing a replacement for next school year. We wish Mrs. Miles a very happy retirement!

Crossing guard, Mr. Charlie Matthews, will be retiring at the end of this school year after 50 years as a City of Wheaton employee. Mr. Matthews has held a number of positions with the city and has assisted Washington families in crossing President Street for the last nine years. If you have encountered Mr. Matthews (Charlie) during your time at Washington, please join us in wishing him a happy retirement.

Mrs. Beth Miller, 2nd grade teacher, will be moving into a full-time special education resource position next school year. This will give Mrs. Miller the opportunity to work with Washington students in all grades and to utilize her LBS1 special education licensure. The special education team welcomes her on board! Mrs. Craig will share information about a teacher to replace Mrs. Miller in 2nd grade later this summer.

Parent Summer Book Give-Away - Pass it On!

New York Times Best-Selling author, Jessica Leahy, will come to CUSD 200 next year on September 19th at 7:00pm at Hubble Middle School to offer a parent seminar based on her book, The Gift of Failure. Washington has eight copies of the book to provide to parents. If you are interested in reading the book this summer, please email Mrs. Craig at by June 7th. Eight parents will be chosen to receive the book on the last day of school with the caveat that each parent please pass it to another Washington parent when as he/she finishes the book. We hope that each copy will make its way to at least five Washington parents prior to Jessica Leahy's visit.
