October 13th, 2019 #Work Hard, Poupard!
Dear Poupard Families,
Dear Poupard Families,
We have been having such an amazing start to the school year. In my third year, I am noticing more than ever before that our students are working collaboratively, speaking respectfully to one another, and engaging themselves in their studies at school. I want to thank you all for continuing to support that learning atmosphere for your child at home. It is truly starting to make a difference in how they see themselves as a learner, leader and global citizen.
Conferences
We had an outstanding couple days of conferences this past week. Over 90% of our families were able to attend and connect with their child's teacher to learn more about ways that we can continue to support them here at school and at home. We love having that time to continue connecting with our families in this new journey to supporting their child. If you didn't get an opportunity to conference with your child's teacher, you may reach out to them directly via email, class dojo or call the office to schedule a time that mutually works between the two of you.
PTO Fundraiser
Our PTO is running a beginning of the year fundraiser in an effort to continue supporting our students and teachers get the necessary resources they desire for this year and years to come. Each year, our PTO allocates nearly $17,000 from their budget in supporting different initiatives around our school. These efforts only becomes possible through the fundraisers that they run throughout the year.
This year, we will be holding a Cookie Dough Fundraiser contest. Students will have the opportunity to sell different packages of cookie dough to friends, family and neighbors over a two week period of time. The PTO generates a 40% revenue from these sales which will be put towards student prizes, future events and their budget. The top prize for this years top seller for the cookie dough fundraiser will receive an all inclusive VIP experience at the Pistons game work over $800!!! Additional details will be coming home tomorrow after the kickoff assembly.
Reconfiguration
The district is continuing to work on the reconfiguration details for the students at Poupard Elementary. Initially, I was hearing that the new boundary lines would be completed by the end of September. That timeline has been pushed back and now we are expecting to receive that information to share with families sometime this Fall. Thank you for your patience as we navigate through this delicate piece of work. Details will be communicated to you as soon as they become available.
Daily Reading at Home
Please continue reading with your child for 20 minutes at night. You will be surprised how much reading with your child on a daily basis boosts their academic achievement, social and emotional awareness, confidence and conversation skills. This is something we are asking every family to make a priority in their household. Here is a great online resource if your child would like to have books read to them by other people but it doesn’t even come close to the impact of reading with their first teacher-YOU!
Thanks for partnering with Poupard in your child's learning!
